Description

The Bambu Lab A1 mini is the most compact and affordable 3D printer in the Bambu Lab lineup. Its 180x180x180 mm build volume is designed for small projects: figurines, accessories, and part prototypes. At just 5.5 kg and $219, it's the ideal first printer for getting into 3D printing. The A1 mini retains key Bambu Lab technologies: auto-calibration, touchscreen, 1080p camera, and AMS Lite compatibility.

The printer uses a bed slinger design with an open frame. The all-metal hotend reaches 300 °C, the bed reaches 80 °C. Maximum speed is 500 mm/s with 10,000 mm/s² acceleration. Noise level is 49 dB thanks to Active Motor Noise Canceling. Supported materials include PLA, PETG, TPU, and PVA. ABS and other high-shrinkage materials are not recommended due to the open design.

Advantages

  • Lowest price in the Bambu Lab lineup — $219 for a printer with auto-calibration, touchscreen, and camera
  • Compact and lightweight — 5.5 kg and 347x315x365 mm, fits on any desk next to your monitor
  • 49 dB quiet operation — can print overnight in a bedroom without disturbing anyone
  • AMS Lite for multi-color printing — up to 4 colors simultaneously, turning this mini printer into a full creative workstation
  • Quick-swap nozzle and full auto-calibration — ready to print in 15 minutes out of the box
  • Print quality matching larger models — Tom's Hardware noted identical surface quality to the A1 and P1S

Disadvantages

  • Small 180x180x180 mm build volume — not suitable for large projects, only compact models
  • Bed limited to 80 °C — lower than the A1 (100 °C), further restricting material choices
  • Open frame — ABS, ASA, PC, PA not recommended, only PLA, PETG, TPU
  • Stainless steel nozzle — not suitable for abrasive carbon fiber composites

The Bambu Lab A1 mini is the best choice for those who want to try 3D printing with minimal investment. Perfect for learning, gifting, decorative projects, and small-batch printing. If you need a larger build volume, consider the A1 ($299) or P2S ($549).

The A1 mini earned the title of "G.O.A.T. of Entry-Level 3D Printers" from Bambu Lab — and it's not just marketing. It truly offers maximum technology in a minimal package, outperforming all competitors in its price segment.
