Description

The Elegoo Neptune 3 Plus is a large-format bedslinger from late 2022 — essentially a Neptune 3 Pro stretched to a 320×320×400 mm build. It's discontinued and marked out of stock in Elegoo's own store, so used is the only route now. People bought it for tall parts on a small budget.

The plate measures 330×330 mm, rated speed is 30–180 mm/s with 60 mm/s recommended, layers 0.1–0.4 mm. A 0.4 mm brass nozzle goes to 260 °C and the PEI spring steel bed to 100 °C, drawing 420 W of the 480 W supply. The dual-gear direct extruder with a 3:1 reduction handles PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA and TPU. Z runs on two lead screws and two belt-synced motors, and leveling probes 49 points on top of a manual six-knob tram.

Pros

  • 40 litres of build volume for $250: almost nothing at launch offered 400 mm of height at that price
  • Direct drive pulls TPU and brittle wood-filled filaments the Bowden Neptune 3 simply can't run
  • Two belt-synced Z motors and rear braces damp ringing in the upper part of the travel
  • Quiet: around 41 dB measured against a rated ≤48 dB, and 65–70 W while printing
  • The bed is up to temperature in 2.5–3 minutes, and PEI adhesion is excellent with no glue
  • Built-in LED bar, removable 4.3-inch screen and a supply that takes 115 or 220 V with no switch

Cons

  • Auto leveling is useless until the bed is trammed once by hand across the six knobs: Elegoo itself admits the 3 Plus and 3 Max need re-leveling before nearly every print
  • The inductive probe is temperature-sensitive: bed heat makes the Z-offset drift, fixed with start G-code that heats the bed before probing
  • The stock feed path with PTFE all the way to the nozzle makes Linear Advance impossible to calibrate — under-extrusion shows up at low K values
  • No profile in Cura 5.x, so you're stuck on Elegoo Cura 4.8; M600 colour changes and pause-at-layer don't work
  • The base warps in shipping, head cable routing isn't covered in the manual, and power-loss recovery only kicks in after 10 mm of height

The Neptune 3 Plus is worth a look if you need enclosures, helmets, vases and tall functional parts and speed is secondary. It gives a beginner more to fiddle with than the base machine: six manual leveling knobs, a temperature-sensitive probe and mandatory flow tuning.

Bottom line: a lot of volume for little money, paid for with hands-on first-layer work and a weak stock hotend. It's gone from the store — the Elegoo Neptune 4 Plus took its place with Klipper, a 320×320×385 mm volume and a claimed 500 mm/s, and the Neptune 4 Max goes bigger.
