Description
The Bambu Lab P1S is an enclosed CoreXY printer that became one of the best-selling 3D printers in the world. Released in 2023 as an affordable alternative to the flagship X1 Carbon, it offers the same 256x256x256 mm build volume and up to 500 mm/s speed, but without LiDAR and with a monochrome display instead of a touchscreen. At the current price of $399, it's one of the best-value enclosed CoreXY printers on the market.
The P1S is built on a CoreXY frame with a fully enclosed chamber. The nozzle reaches 300 °C and the bed reaches 100 °C. It supports PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU, PA, PC, and carbon fiber composites. The built-in direct drive extruder with hardened steel gears ensures stable feeding. Automatic bed leveling, a filament sensor, and a 720p camera for remote monitoring come standard.
Advantages
- Proven reliability — one of the world's most popular 3D printers, used in print farms and small businesses
- $399 for an enclosed CoreXY — one of the best deals in its class, Tom's Hardware Editor's Choice
- 15-minute setup — minimal assembly out of the box, automatic leveling, ready-made profiles in Bambu Studio
- AMS compatible — multi-color printing up to 4 colors with automatic filament switching
- Enclosed chamber with filtration — safe ABS and ASA printing indoors, stable temperature environment
- Speed up to 500 mm/s with 20,000 mm/s² acceleration — input shaping delivers smooth surfaces even at high speeds
Disadvantages
- 2.7" monochrome display without touchscreen — button-based navigation, minimal interface compared to P2S and H2 series
- Bed limited to 100 °C — insufficient for high-shrinkage PA and some engineering materials
- 720p camera — lower monitoring quality compared to 1080p on P2S and 3 cameras on H2S
- No active chamber heating — temperature depends on bed and nozzle heat, not directly controlled
The Bambu Lab P1S is the ideal choice for those seeking a reliable enclosed printer at the lowest price. It's great for beginners, print farms, and makers who don't need a touchscreen or next-gen servo extruder. If you want 2025 technology, it's worth stepping up to the P2S ($549).
The P1S remains in the Bambu Lab lineup as the budget option after the P2S launch. It's a time-tested printer with a massive user community and a refined ecosystem. For many tasks, its capabilities are more than sufficient.
