Description

The Anycubic Kossel Plus is a delta printer that ships as a self-assembly kit and was once one of the most popular budget deltas around. It's aimed at enthusiasts and anyone who wants to learn how 3D printers work, since you build and tune it yourself. Its defining trait is the round build area and the tall-relative-to-wide print envelope typical of delta machines.

The build area is Ø230 mm with 300 mm of height, and print speed reaches 60 mm/s. The Bowden extruder with a 0.4 mm nozzle heats to 260 °C, and the heated bed goes up to 100 °C, covering PLA, ABS, HIPS and wood-fill filament. It runs 1.75 mm filament, has automatic bed leveling, a monochrome LCD with a rotary encoder, and prints from SD card or over USB. Lightweight carbon rods and linear rails give the print head fast, accurate movement.

Pros

  • Good print quality for the money — reviewers note clean detail and solid repeatability thanks to the linear rails
  • Automatic bed leveling removes the manual calibration that cartesian printers usually need
  • Round Ø230 mm bed and 300 mm height — plenty of room for tall and round models
  • Modular kit of 7 sub-assemblies: an experienced user can build it in 2–3 hours
  • Lightweight carbon rods deliver fast moves and great value for the price

Cons

  • Not the best first printer: a delta is harder to set up and calibrate than a regular bedslinger
  • Weak part-cooling fan makes bridging and overhangs harder
  • The design is a bit noisy — better kept in a workshop than a living room
  • Discontinued model: new units and official spare parts are hard to find

The Kossel Plus suits enthusiasts curious about delta kinematics and hands-on assembly, or anyone wanting a second machine for tall models. It's not an out-of-the-box choice for beginners, but it's a great platform for experiments, mods and flashing custom Marlin.

Bottom line: a time-tested, affordable delta with good print quality in exchange for hands-on assembly and tuning; today it's mostly interesting as a DIY project and a collectible.
