Anycubic Kobra Max

The Anycubic Kobra Max is a large-format desktop FDM printer with a huge 400×400×450 mm build volume. It targets makers who need to print big single-piece objects: helmets, armor parts, cosplay props, enclosures and large-scale models. This is the discontinued 2022 version, later succeeded by the Kobra 2 Max and Kobra 3 Max.

The build volume is 400×400×450 mm, with an average print speed of 80–100 mm/s and a quoted maximum of up to 180 mm/s. The Bowden extruder with a 0.4 mm nozzle reaches 260 °C and the heated bed goes up to 90 °C, covering PLA, PETG, TPU and ABS. A dual Z-screw drive stiffens the large gantry, and the first layer is handled by 25-point LeviQ auto-leveling that compensates for bed unevenness. Control is via a 4.3-inch color touchscreen.

Cons

• Bowden feed and modest real-world speed — large models take a very long time to print
• Open frame with no enclosed chamber: ABS and similar plastics warp easily on such a large bed
• Its footprint and 16 kg weight require plenty of space and a sturdy table
• The model is discontinued — support and first-party spare parts are gradually winding down

The Kobra Max suits cosplayers, makers and small workshops that need an affordable way to print oversized objects whole. For fast printing of small parts or working with engineering plastics, newer enclosed models are a better fit.

Bottom line: one of the most affordable large-format FDM printers of its era — a huge build volume and easy leveling in exchange for modest speed and an open frame.
