Description
The Anycubic Kobra 3 is an open-frame, bedslinger FDM printer that brings fast multi-color printing to the budget segment. It suits beginners — it prints well almost out of the box — and anyone who wants 4- to 8-color output without paying premium prices for an expensive system.
The build volume is 250×250×260 mm, with print speeds up to 600 mm/s and acceleration up to 20,000 mm/s². The direct-drive extruder reaches 300 °C and the PEI spring-steel heated bed goes up to 110 °C, covering PLA, PETG and TPU. 4- or 8-color printing is handled by the separate ACE Pro auto-feeding system, which dries filament while it prints.
Pros
- Excellent single-color print quality with little tuning — reviewers note clean layers and good detail
- Genuine up-to-600 mm/s speed with Input Shaping; in practice the sweet spot is 250–350 mm/s
- 4- or 8-color printing via the ACE Pro system at a price that was unthinkable a couple of years ago
- ACE Pro dries filament while printing — a real fix for moisture, not just marketing
- LeviQ3.0 auto leveling with Z-offset, filament sensor, power-loss recovery and AI spaghetti detection
- Official warranty and support in Russia at an accessible price
Cons
- Each color change wastes 3–8 g of filament on purging, especially on dark-to-light transitions
- Open frame and a weak bed magnet: large ABS/ASA parts are finicky and big prints can pop off
- Closed ecosystem and stock slicer limit fine-tuning and access to logs
- The Combo with ACE Pro needs twice the space and costs noticeably more than the base unit
The Kobra 3 fits anyone who wants an affordable, fast printer for home use: toys, figurines, prototypes and functional parts, plus vivid multi-color models with the ACE Pro add-on. It's a great first printer and an affordable alternative to multi-color systems from top brands.
Bottom line: one of the cheapest ways to try multi-color printing — great quality and speed in exchange for filament wasted on purging and a closed ecosystem.
