Description
The QIDI X-Pro is an enclosed desktop FDM printer from 2018 with dual extruders, launched by QIDI Technology at around $499. It was one of the most affordable dual-head printers on the market, aimed at beginners and hobbyists who want two-color and multi-material printing without paying a premium. Mechanically, the X-Pro is a close relative of the Flashforge Creator Pro.
The build volume is 230x150x150 mm. It's built on an all-metal cartesian frame with a Z-moving bed and two independent hotends running direct drive extruders. The 0.4 mm nozzles reach 250 °C, the heated aluminum bed hits 120 °C, print speed runs 30-150 mm/s, and layer height spans 0.05-0.4 mm. The fully enclosed body with acrylic panels and a top cover keeps ABS from warping. On top sits a magnetic removable plate, plus a 4.3-inch touchscreen, power loss recovery, and connectivity over Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB, and SD card. Materials: PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU.
Advantages
- Dual extruders for the price — print two-color models and use dissolvable supports, while the X-Pro stayed one of the cheapest dual-head printers around
- Sturdy enclosed body — the all-metal frame dampens vibration, and the enclosure with acrylic panels keeps temperatures stable and helps with ABS
- Magnetic removable plate — popping finished parts off is easy, and the magnets hold better than many budget rivals of the era
- Nearly fully assembled — it ships built; you just install the extruders and level the bed with paper, with built-in video tutorials to guide you
- Flexible connectivity — Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB, and an SD slot, plus print recovery after a power outage
Disadvantages
- Small build area — 230x150x150 mm feels cramped for larger models, especially once you factor in the dual extruders
- Manual bed leveling — there's no auto leveling; you level the bed by paper, and you have to redo it after transport
- Out-of-the-box slicer profiles aren't great — for clean quality and decent overhangs, the bundled QIDI Print needs manual tuning
- Noisy operation — the turbo cooling fans hum noticeably, so it's not a quiet machine
The QIDI X-Pro suits beginners and hobbyists who specifically want two-color or multi-material printing inside an enclosure at an affordable price. It's a reasonable pick for home, education, and small functional parts in PLA, ABS, and PETG, provided you're willing to spend time on manual bed and slicer calibration.
Bottom line: the X-Pro is a solid budget dual-head printer with an enclosure that became a maker favorite in its day. Its strength is reliable printing in engineering plastics plus two extruders; its weak spots are the small build area, manual leveling, and the tuning you have to do yourself. The model is discontinued, replaced by the X-Plus and Q series.
