Bambu Lab P1P

The Bambu Lab P1P is an open-frame CoreXY printer on the same platform as the P1S, released in 2023. Unlike the enclosed P1S, the P1P has no chamber, making it more affordable ($299 at launch) and lighter (9.83 kg). The printer has been discontinued and replaced by the P1S, but remains widely available on the secondary market and AliExpress.

The P1P shares the same CoreXY kinematics as the P1S: 256×256×256 mm build volume, up to 500 mm/s speed, 20,000 mm/s² acceleration with vibration compensation. The direct drive extruder with a 300 °C nozzle handles PLA, PETG, TPU, and light engineering materials. The open frame limits high-shrinkage materials — ABS, ASA, and PA require an aftermarket enclosure.

Disadvantages

• Discontinued — no official firmware updates, limited spare parts availability through Bambu
• Open frame — unsuitable for ABS, ASA, and PA without an additional enclosure
• Monochrome display without touchscreen — button-based navigation, minimal interface
• 720p camera — lower monitoring quality compared to newer models
• No active filtration — without an enclosure, the carbon filter has little effect

The Bambu Lab P1P is a great option for those looking to enter the Bambu Lab ecosystem at minimal cost — especially for PLA and PETG. If you plan to print ABS, ASA, or use multi-material, it's better to go straight to the enclosed P1S. The P1P can be found on AliExpress and secondary platforms at prices well below the P1S.
