Description
The Bambu Lab H2S is a single-nozzle large-format 3D printer built on the H2 platform, positioned as the direct successor to the bestselling X1 Carbon. Designed for advanced makers and small businesses who need a large build volume with engineering material support. Key differences from the dual-nozzle H2D include a larger 340x320x340 mm build volume (120% bigger than X1C), a single nozzle instead of two, and a more accessible starting price of $1,249.
The H2S is built on a CoreXY frame with a fully enclosed chamber and active heating up to 65 °C. The nozzle reaches 350 °C and the bed reaches 120 °C, supporting PLA, PETG, ABS, PC, PA, PPS, and carbon fiber composites. The PMSM servo extruder delivers 67% more extrusion force compared to previous-generation stepper motors. The Vision Encoder system achieves motion accuracy under 50 μm. Three-stage Superior VOC filtration enables safe printing in office environments.
Advantages
- Largest build volume among all Bambu Lab printers — 340x320x340 mm, 120% bigger than X1 Carbon, enabling large parts to be printed in one piece
- PMSM DynaSense servo extruder with up to 10 kg of force — real-time clog and grinding detection, stable feeding at high speeds
- Noise level below 50 dB with Active Motor Noise Canceling — suitable for overnight printing and shared workspaces
- 23 sensors and 3 cameras with AI monitoring — print error detection, pre-flight chamber check, full filament path control
- Optional 10W laser and cutting modules — engraving, cutting wood, leather, paper, and vinyl without switching machines
- Linux support (Bambu Studio) — unlike the H2D, the H2S works with MacOS, Windows, and Linux
Disadvantages
- Single nozzle — multi-color printing requires AMS with frequent filament swaps, increasing time and purge waste
- Laser module limited to 10W — the H2D supports 40W for thicker cuts and faster engraving
- Weight of 30 kg and dimensions of 492x514x626 mm — requires a sturdy desk and space for accessories
- 8 GB storage — half of the H2D (16 GB) and a quarter of the H2D Pro (32 GB)
The Bambu Lab H2S is ideal for makers and small businesses needing a large-format printer with engineering materials at a reasonable price. Tom's Hardware called it "the one we wanted." If you need dual nozzles or a powerful 40W laser, consider the H2D. For compact projects on a budget, look at the P2S or A1.
The H2S fills the gap between Bambu Lab's budget printers and the professional H2D. It combines second-generation technology — servo extruder, AI monitoring, active heated chamber — with an accessible price and quiet operation, making it a versatile choice for advanced users.
