Description
The Anycubic Photon Mono X2 is a mid-format resin (LCD/MSLA) 3D printer, an updated version of the popular Photon Mono X. It suits hobbyists and experienced users who need high detail for miniatures, figurines and functional parts at an accessible price.
The build volume is 196×122×200 mm, with a 9.1" monochrome 4K+ screen (4096×2560 px) and a 48 µm pixel size. Print speed reaches up to 60 mm/h along the Z axis. Even exposure comes from the Anycubic LighTurbo matrix light source (405 nm), while dual linear rails deliver 10 µm Z accuracy. The laser-engraved textured plate improves adhesion and part removal, and the removable cover blocks 99.95% of UV. Control is via a 3.5" touchscreen.
Pros
- High detail and dimensional accuracy — reviewers praise miniature and functional-part quality
- Dual linear rails on the Z axis (10 µm accuracy) reduce visible layer lines on walls
- LighTurbo matrix light source gives even exposure — the LED grid and anti-aliasing issues of earlier models are fixed
- Ships mostly pre-assembled: setup takes only a few minutes
- Compatible with Photon Workshop, CHITUBOX and Lychee Slicer; works with any 405 nm resin
- Decently large 196×122×200 mm build volume for a resin machine at a low price
Cons
- Screen life is around 2000 hours — the LCD will eventually need replacing
- Manual 4-point bed leveling only, with no auto-leveling
- Resin fumes and fan noise mean it's best kept out of living spaces
- No Wi-Fi or modern port: data transfer is via USB Type-A 2.0 only
The Photon Mono X2 fits anyone printing high-detail models: tabletop miniatures, busts, figurines, jewelry masters and small functional parts. It's a good way to step up to mid-format resin printing without overpaying.
Bottom line: a reliable, accurate mid-format resin printer with an excellent price-to-quality ratio; the trade-offs are manual leveling and no wireless connectivity.
