Encyclopedia

Water-washable resin rinses off with plain water instead of isopropyl alcohol. This greatly simplifies post-processing: no alcohol, less smell, lower cost. Detail is close to standard resin, but it is usually a bit more brittle and still needs UV curing.

What it is good for

  • Miniatures and models when you want easier washing
  • Home printing without a stock of isopropyl alcohol
  • Learning resin printing — less chemistry
  • Decor and static models

Where NOT to use it

  • Functional loaded parts — usually more brittle than standard
  • Items in constant contact with water — they may soften
  • Outdoor items under UV
  • When you need maximum strength — use ABS-like/tough

How to print

  • Normal layer exposure: close to standard resin, dialed in with a test
  • Bottom layer exposure: 20–40 s
  • Layer height: 0.03–0.05 mm
  • Cure wavelength: 405 nm

Washing, curing and storage

The main convenience is water washing. But the wash water cannot go down the drain: it contains dissolved toxic resin.

  • Washing: 2–5 minutes in clean water (light agitation helps)
  • UV curing: 2–8 minutes — mandatory, or the part stays tacky and weak
  • Water disposal: leave the dirty water in sun/UV until the sediment fully cures, then bin the solid residue. Do NOT pour down the drain
  • Resin storage: dark, tightly sealed bottle

Pros and cons

  • Washes in plain water — no alcohol or smell
  • Cheaper post-processing
  • Good detail
  • Easier for beginners
  • Usually more brittle than standard resin
  • Finished part dislikes prolonged water contact
  • Dirty water cannot go down the drain
  • Same liquid-resin toxicity

FAQ

Detail is close to standard, but it is usually a bit more brittle. The big plus is washing in water instead of alcohol. For miniatures and decor the strength difference is unnoticeable; for functional parts, prefer ABS-like.
