Description
The Anycubic Photon Mono X 6K is a large-format MSLA resin printer with a 9.25" monochrome LCD and 6K resolution. It targets miniature hobbyists, designers and small workshops that need fine detail across a big build area. Its standout trait is the combination of high resolution (5760×3600) and a notably large build volume.
The build volume is 197×122×245 mm (5.9 L), with a 34-micron pixel size and 10-micron Z-axis accuracy. The UV light source is a parallel matrix of 40 LEDs (405 nm) with ≥90% light uniformity, enabling print speeds up to 80 mm/h. It's controlled via a 3.5" touchscreen, with Wi-Fi through the Photon app and file transfer over USB and LAN. Light power is adjustable from 30–100%, so it runs both ordinary and special 405 nm resins.
Pros
- Large 197×122×245 mm build volume paired with 6K detail — a rare mix of size and resolution for the money
- High-transmittance monochrome screen gives short layer exposure and speeds up to 80 mm/h
- Parallel matrix of 40 LEDs provides even exposure across the whole screen area
- Replaceable protective film over the LCD extends the life of the expensive screen
- Wi-Fi control via the Photon app and LAN file transfer, not just a USB stick
Cons
- No built-in resin heater — in a cold room you have to dial in exposure manually
- The stock Photon Workshop slicer is weaker than ChiTuBox and Lychee, so many users switch to third-party profiles
- Large body (475×290×270 mm) and 11 kg weight need a dedicated, well-ventilated spot
- Resin printing requires post-processing: an isopropyl alcohol wash and a final UV cure
The Photon Mono X 6K suits anyone printing large miniatures, busts, prototypes and batches of small parts where both build area and fine detail matter. It's a step up for experienced users moving from compact resin printers to a large format.
Bottom line: a balanced large-format MSLA with 6K detail and good speed; discontinued now, but still a solid pick for detailed resin printing over a big area.
