Description

The Anycubic Photon Mono M5s is a 12K MSLA resin printer aimed at beginners and miniature hobbyists who care about fine detail and an easy start. Its standout feature is the leveling-free design: you just screw in the plate and press print.

The build volume is 218×123×200 mm. The 10.1-inch monochrome LCD has a 12K resolution (11,520×5,120 pixels) for 19-micron X accuracy. Average print speed reaches up to 105 mm/h with high-speed resin (around 70 mm/h with standard resin), thanks to a low-peel-force release film. The Z axis runs on dual linear rails with 10-micron accuracy, and resin-level and print-start sensors cut down on failed prints.

Pros

  • Leveling-free printing: a floating platform on stiff springs and a contact sensor self-adjust — noticeably easier than classic MSLA machines
  • 12K screen and 19-micron accuracy — sharp edges and tiny miniature details come out crisp
  • Fast: up to 105 mm/h with high-speed resin and a short per-layer exposure time
  • Smart features: auto device check at startup, resin-level detection and print-fail detection save time and material
  • Sturdy metal build, a unibody vat with scale lines and Wi-Fi printing through the Anycubic app
  • Reads files from a USB stick on the side next to the power switch — less chance of dripping resin into the port

Cons

  • The advertised 105 mm/h is only achievable with Anycubic's high-speed resin — with standard resin it prints about half as fast
  • Pricier than entry-level Anycubic resin printers — you pay extra for the smart features and 12K screen
  • Like any MSLA, it has a strong resin smell and requires washing and UV post-curing — you need a well-ventilated spot

The Photon Mono M5s suits anyone who wants to print miniatures, figurines and precise small parts with minimal setup: resin-printing newcomers and tabletop fans. For large functional parts, an FDM printer is the better choice.

Bottom line: a smart, fast 12K printer with a genuine plug-and-print experience — a solid entry into resin printing if you're willing to pay for the convenience.
