Description
The Anycubic Photon M3 Premium is an 8K resin (LCD/MSLA) 3D printer built for users who need both high detail and a large build area. It is the flagship of the Photon M3 line, aimed at experienced users, miniature workshops and studios printing large art models.
The 10.1" monochrome LCD with a 7680×4320 resolution delivers an XY pixel size of just 28.5 µm. The build area is 219×123×250 mm (6.7 L). The Anycubic LighTurbo 2.0 light source produces a uniform, parallel 405 nm UV beam, while the dual ball-screw Z axis offers 5 µm accuracy and reduces visible layer lines. Maximum print speed is up to 95 mm/h, power draw is 150 W, with control via a 4.3" touchscreen and Wi-Fi.
Pros
- Excellent detail: the 8K screen and 28.5 µm pixel print overhangs, fine edges and smooth curves cleanly (noted by Tom's Hardware and Hackster)
- Large 219×123×250 mm build area at high resolution — print big models without losing detail
- Dual ball-screw Z axis with 5 µm accuracy — less visible layering than a typical T-shaped lead screw
- The LighTurbo 2.0 light source gives even exposure and a smooth model surface
- Large resin vat (over 2 L) and NFEP film — fewer refills and easier print release
- Built-in dual air-purification with activated carbon reduces odor in the room
Cons
- Large footprint (630×330×350 mm) and 19 kg weight — takes up a lot of desk space
- The proprietary Photon Workshop slicer is glitchy and weaker than third-party tools; support in other slicers arrived late
- Reviewers report unreliable Wi-Fi, and the large build plate is harder to clean
- Bed leveling is manual, 4-point — no auto leveling
The Photon M3 Premium suits experienced hobbyists and small studios that need high detail on a large area: miniatures, busts, art and design models, and small-batch printing. It is overkill for beginners due to its size, weight and the higher learning curve of resin printing.
Bottom line: one of the most detailed large-format resin printers of its generation — 8K quality and a big build area in exchange for size and somewhat raw first-party software. The model is discontinued but stays relevant for anyone who needs both resolution and volume.
