Elegoo Saturn 4: 20 Known Issues and How to Fix Them
Everything that actually goes wrong on a base Elegoo Saturn 4: skewed build plate, false force sensor errors, LCD lifespan, the GOO-only file format and a leaking vat. Step-by-step fixes plus an error message table.
The Elegoo Saturn 4 is a 10-inch 12K MSLA printer with an 11520×5120 panel, a 218.88 × 122.88 × 220 mm build volume, a top speed of 70 mm/h and a spring-loaded plate that levels itself off a mechanical force sensor — the $319 base model, with no tilting vat, no camera and no Wi-Fi.
What follows is Saturn 4 specific: false readings from the mechanical sensor, the missing manual leveling menu, the single file format the machine accepts, LCD lifespan and the three-month warranty that covers it. Generic resin printing failures — underexposure, snapped supports, cupping blowout — are linked at the bottom instead of being repeated here.
1. Only half the plate prints
The single most common complaint from base Saturn 4 owners: models on one side of the plate stick, models on the other side never attach or tear off within the first few layers. It is always the same side. People swap the film, replace the entire vat, change resin, push bottom exposure up and down — and nothing changes, because the cause is mechanical.
Auto-leveling on the Saturn 4 does less than most people assume. The plate is spring-loaded, the mechanical sensor reads the force as the plate presses down and records a zero — but it cannot correct a sideways tilt. If the plate is skewed, the sensor simply zeroes on whichever corner loads first, and the opposite corner sits a couple of tenths of a millimeter above the screen. Guru Meditation walks through the mechanics and ends up printing 0.45 mm washers to preload the springs, swapping the stock M4×5 screws for M4×10.
- Pull the vat out and lay four equal pieces of paper on the LCD, one per corner. You are printing without the vat, so no resin is involved.
- Slice any small model with bottom exposure set to 60–90 seconds. That is your working window for turning screws while the plate is down.
- Run the file from the USB drive. Tap "Mandatory printing" when "Print Abnormal" pops up — with no vat installed the machine will complain, and that is expected.
- While the first layer is curing, tug each sheet. Correct pressure means the paper pulls out from under the plate but will not push back in. Find the corner where it slides freely.
- Back that corner's screw off with a 2.5 mm hex key — counterclockwise, a few degrees at a time. Never crank a screw down hard: over-tightening kills the corner's travel.
- Re-test all four sheets after every adjustment. Corners drag their neighbours along.
- Once resistance feels identical everywhere, pull the paper and run a real print with bottom exposure around 30 seconds.
2. There is no manual leveling in the menu — realign the arm instead
The Saturn 4 Ultra has Settings → Accessibility → Manual Leveling. The base Saturn 4 does not. Its Tool page holds exactly four items: Manual (jog the Z axis), Screen exposure, Tank cleaning and Emergency stop. Every "just run manual leveling" answer you find online is written for a different machine — on this one the only adjustment is mechanical.
If corner screws did not fix it, the arm itself is off. Two things cause that: the arm bolts have worked loose, or the plate latch has slowly crushed its seat and tipped the whole plate forward. Elegoo documents the procedure in its wiki — the page is written for the Ultra, but the plate mount is shared across the Saturn 4 line.
- Take the plate off, undo the latch handle screw with a 4.0 mm hex key and remove the handle.
- Gently pull the plastic shroud away from the base of the arm and set it aside.
- Heat the four bolts that fix the arm to the carriage for 2–3 minutes. If a bolt still will not move, keep heating rather than forcing it.
- Loosen all four with the 4.0 mm key, refit the latch handle and mount the plate.
- Lay four pieces of paper across the corners of the screen, then use Tool → Manual to step the plate down 50, 10, 1 and 0.1 mm until it presses the paper.
- Tug all four sheets — resistance should be noticeable and even. With the plate held in that position, tighten the four arm bolts in a cross pattern.
- Hit Home, let the Z axis park, pull the paper, refit the shroud and run a test print.
3. "Resin exceeded maximum limit" on a half-full vat
The printer refuses to start and claims the vat is overfilled while the resin sits a finger's width below the MAX line. Try again two or three times and it usually goes through — which is exactly why owners live with a "moody" machine for months and blame the resin.
There is no float and no optical sensor. Resin level is measured by the same strain gauge on the plate arm: the plate descends and the machine watches for the force to rise. That gives you a clean test — owners on r/resinprinting found the error still fires with the vat removed entirely. If yours does that, the sensor or its wiring is at fault, not the fill level. In a separate thread Elegoo support diagnosed a dead force sensor and shipped a replacement.
- Check that the plate latch is fully closed. A half-latched plate is the number one cause: it wobbles and feeds the sensor garbage.
- Pull the plate, refit it and tighten its mounting screws. A single loose screw does the same thing.
- Make sure the vat is the right way round — MAX and MIN should read normally, not upside down.
- Remove the vat completely and start a print. If the error survives, the sensor is your problem and you can skip ahead.
- Inspect the ribbon between the mechanical sensor and the adapter board: seated firmly, no kinks, no chafed insulation.
- If the error appeared right after a firmware update, dump your machine parameters (see the elephant foot section) and compare the thresholds with stock.
- Still failing — email 3dp@elegoo.com and ask for a new force sensor. It is a standard part swap and they do ship it.
4. "Foreign matter detected" on cold, thick resin
"Foreign matter detected, please troubleshoot" means the sensor met resistance on the way down where there should not be any, and concluded there is a lump of cured resin in the vat. It is a genuinely useful LCD protection — and it also false-triggers constantly in a cold workshop.
Elegoo names the cause outright in its own wiki: excessive resin viscosity causes false triggering. Cold, syrupy resin resists the descending plate exactly the way a solid object would, and the printer cannot tell the difference.
- Check the room temperature. Elegoo asks for resin at 25–30 °C; below that, warm the bottle in roughly 60 °C water for about 10 minutes and stir it.
- Run Tank cleaning after every failed print and remove all cured debris — otherwise the next self-check will honestly find real foreign matter.
- Filter the resin through a funnel if a previous print crashed.
- Look over the plate surface. Cured blobs and burrs read as foreign objects too.
- Move the printer away from vibration sources — another printer, a washing machine, a fan. As a test, stand it directly on the floor.
- Keep the vat out of direct sunlight: partly cured resin forms a skin on the film, and the sensor finds that as well.
5. "Auto-leveling failed" and "Mechanical sensor error" during self-test
Both errors come from the same part — the mechanical force sensor. "Auto-leveling failed" appears while leveling before a print, "Mechanical sensor error" shows up in the self-test list. In both cases Elegoo's first suspect is not electronics but vibration: a wobbly table or a second printer running next to yours corrupts the force reading.
- Put the printer on a rigid, level surface. As a diagnostic, stand it on the floor — if the error clears, the table was the problem.
- Clear that same surface of anything that shakes: a second printer, a compressor, a fan, a washing machine.
- Confirm the plate is seated all the way and its mounting screws are tight.
- Look behind the rear panel at the coiled Z-axis cable — a twisted cable that snags and loads the sensor with force that isn't there (next section).
- Inspect the sensor ribbon and the adapter board for kinks, resin residue and oxidized contacts.
- If nothing helps, dump your machine parameters by running Exporting.gcode from a USB drive — the printer writes 100MachineParams.gcode back to the stick. Support asks for that file plus your resin type and viscosity.
6. The coiled Z-axis cable snags and kills leveling
A coiled spring cable runs to the plate carriage and powers the mechanical sensor. It is meant to stretch and collapse with the Z axis, but over time it twists and starts catching on the chassis. The symptom is distinctive: the plate never reaches the top, homing finishes crooked, and leveling aborts with an error.
One Saturn 4 owner on Reddit had it jam badly enough to stop the plate rising; another in the same thread found the cable severed in two places. Elegoo published a dedicated video on replacing that coiled cable for the Saturn 4 series, which also shows how it should sit.
- Switch the printer off at the rear rocker and unplug the power brick.
- Take the back panel off. The coiled cable and the zip tie that sets its working length sit right there, the tie held by a screw.
- Untwist the coils. The cable should extend freely across the full Z travel without rubbing the chassis or the lead screw.
- If you need to cut the tie to re-route it, message support first so the work is on record and does not become a warranty argument later.
- Check the whole length for breaks. A severed coiled cable is replaced as a complete part.
- Reassemble and run the self-test — "Mechanical sensor" should come back green.
7. The Z axis seems to stop lifting after the first layer
The plate descends normally, cures the first layer, and then either sits there or grinds its way up in jerks. It looks exactly like a dead motor or a seized lead screw, and the instinct is to start pulling the gantry apart. Usually the mechanics are fine.
A Saturn 4 owner traced it in August 2026: resin had sat in the vat for weeks, the old PFA film had gone tacky, and the first layer's full footprint was gripping hard enough that the motor could not break it loose. The base Saturn 4 has no tilting vat to peel the layer off from one edge — the whole layer separates straight up, so peel force is far higher and a tacky film hurts much more.
- Drain the vat, wash it with IPA and hold the film up to the light: a hazy, stretched film grips noticeably harder than a fresh one.
- Replace the film if it is cloudy, sagging or has a lot of cycles on it. On the Saturn 4 the whole cassette swaps out — there is nothing to tension.
- Raise lift distance by 2–3 mm and slow the lift speed down. On a machine with no tilting vat this is the biggest lever you have.
- Add a rest after retract (Rest time after retract in Chitubox, Wait before print in Lychee) — 1–2 seconds on normal layers.
- Do not leave resin sitting in the vat for weeks. If the printer is idle, filter it back into the bottle.
- Only if the Z axis is still jerky after all that should you start looking at the lead screw, the grease and the limit switch.
8. Elephant foot and oversized bottom layers
The raft comes out visibly thicker than the slicer promised, model bases bulge, and finished parts miss their nominal height by a few tenths. The community's canonical example: a part that should have measured 1.41 mm came off the plate at over 2.8 mm, printed at 0.03 mm layers with five bottom layers at 20 seconds.
The spring-loaded plate is responsible. It exists to absorb peel force, but it has a side effect: after the plate drops, the springs relax slowly and the resin takes time to squeeze out of the gap. If exposure starts before the plate has fully settled, the layer ends up thicker than commanded — and it repeats for every bottom layer. The thicker the resin (ABS-like, water-washable) and the colder the room, the worse it gets.
- Set a rest before exposure of 10–20 seconds on the first 10–20 layers. That alone fixes both raft thickness and the bulging base.
- On normal layers 1–2 seconds is plenty: surfaces come out cleaner and the bloom around support tips disappears.
- In Lychee the setting is Wait before print, and it only takes effect when you export .goo. With .ctb the bottom-layer waits are ignored — and the Saturn 4 will not read .ctb anyway.
- Chitubox applies Rest time after retract to the entire print. To split bottom and normal layers, open the sliced file in UVTools and edit Wait time before cure for the first layers.
- Warm the resin to 25–30 °C. Warm resin clears the gap faster and shrinks the effect before you touch any timers.
- Trim bottom exposure afterwards — it was often cranked up in the first place just to punch through an over-thick layer.
There is a deeper route too: lower the force threshold at which the printer decides leveling is done. Machine parameters are dumped to a USB stick with a g-code file and written back the same way. On the Saturn 4 Ultra the stock values are M5000 I205 E30000 for the leveling threshold and M5000 I206 C35000 for foreign-object detection; Elegoo's own elephant foot patch sets 28000 and 33000, and support has handed out 20000 / 25000 in individual cases.

M5999 I0 ; save machine parametersOne detail worth knowing: a teardown of the Saturn 4 g-code parameters turned up an Elegoo engineer's own comment on the auto-leveling end position — "recommended to set -1mm, too large may damage the screen" — sitting next to a factory value of -3 mm. In other words, leveling compresses the plate springs three millimeters past zero. Which leads directly into the next problem.
9. LCDs dying at 100–400 hours, with a three-month warranty
The masking LCD is rated for roughly 2000 exposure hours. In practice Saturn 4 series owners report failures at 100–400 hours: a black blob for one person, a stripe along the edge for another, a section that simply stops passing light for a third. The defects look like pressure damage rather than burn-out.
- Every couple of weeks run Tool → Screen exposure with the vat removed and look at the pattern. Dark patches, stripes and dead pixels are obvious immediately.
- If there is no light at all, or part of the image is missing, reseat the LCD ribbon first. The side marked LCD or SCREEN faces the panel, the side marked MB faces the motherboard.
- Check the glass and the Fresnel lens underneath for resin smears and dust — they mimic a dead panel but wipe off.
- Update the firmware: a share of "partial exposure" complaints clear up after an update.
- You will be replacing the panel yourself. On the 12K models it comes off with the "phone screen" method — warm the glass with a hair dryer and lift it; on the 16K that does not work and the panel is screwed down.
- Photograph the motherboard before you take anything apart. Elegoo does not publish board diagrams, unofficial videos show different revisions, and owners have reassembled with swapped connectors — self-test passes, exposure never fires.
10. The vat leaks and leaves a film of resin on the glass
The symptom is unmistakable: a thin crust forms on the glass above the LCD and flakes off under a fingernail. Nothing burned out and nothing fogged — that is resin which seeped out of the vat and cured in place. Saturn 4 owners run into it regularly on r/ElegooSaturn.
It nearly always escapes at the same place — the holes punched through the film for the locating posts when the cassette is assembled. On the Saturn 4 the film ships as a complete cassette, and the instructions say to pierce those holes with a hex key. Puncture them with a screwdriver or anything blunt and you get a ragged hole that wicks resin straight through.
- Lift the vat out and inspect the glass. A thin crust of resin comes off with a soft plastic spatula and a microfiber cloth wetted with IPA — paper towels scratch.
- Press the four latches around the bottom of the vat and lift the film cassette off.
- Look at the pierced holes. Torn or stretched holes are your leak; replace the cassette.
- Pierce the new cassette with the rounded end of a hex key or a pin, centered exactly on the locating posts. The cassette's four screws must face upward.
- Line the latches up with the grooves around the base and press lightly on the cassette frame — it seats much easier that way.
- Tighten the two vat thumbscrews and leave a little resin in it for 10–15 minutes without printing. A leak shows up immediately.
- Fit a screen protector over the glass if you can. It costs almost nothing and removes half the risk.
11. The stock scraper and paper towels haze the film
PFA film is softer than it looks. The plastic scraper in the Elegoo box, a paper towel with IPA, even a dry cloth with a speck of dust on it will leave a web of micro-scratches. After a couple of cleanings the film turns matte, prints stick to it harder, and it reaches the end of its life much sooner.
The annoying part is that the scraper sits in the box looking like the tool for exactly this job. It is meant for lifting prints off the plate, not for the bottom of the vat. In a long r/resinprinting thread a newcomer hazed a brand new film in one pass with shop towels.
- Never dig a stuck print off the floor. Drain the resin, drop an offcut of supports or a folded scrap of paper into one corner and run Tool → Tank cleaning for 15–30 seconds.
- The printer cures a thin sheet across the whole floor that fuses with the stuck debris. Pull the tab and the sheet lifts everything out with it.
- Between prints with the same resin there is no need to clean the vat at all — just filter the contents if a print failed.
- When switching resins, run the tank clean first, then drain, and only then wipe with soft microfiber and no pressure.
- Paper towels, shop towels, linty cotton pads and any scraper on the vat floor are off the table.
- A slightly hazy film still prints fine. Replace it when it sags, ripples, or picks up deep gouges.
12. The film usage counter stays red after a swap
The printer counts layers against the film and starts demanding a replacement past 60,000: the number in the self-test turns red and a warning appears before every print. So you replace the film — and the counter is still red, and you conclude something is broken.
The counter does not reset itself, not when you change the film and not when you change the entire vat. The reset button only appears next to the number after you launch the self-test manually from settings — Elegoo documents this nowhere, which is why the question comes up over and over.
- Open settings and start the device self-test manually — not the one that runs at power-on, the one in the menu.
- Let it finish. A round reset button appears next to the "Release film usage count" field.
- Tap it and the counter zeroes.
- If you would rather not reset it, printing still works — the warning does not block anything.
13. Flexible build plates are officially incompatible
Magnetic flex plates are a favorite resin printer upgrade: flex the sheet, the print pops off, no chisel required. On the Saturn 4 you cannot fit one, and that is not community folklore — it is a note on the official product page: installing a flexible plate causes auto-leveling issues, inaccurate resin amount detection, and may even damage the LCD.
The mechanism explains it. Both leveling and resin level measurement on this machine are built on the force the strain gauge reads. An extra layer of springy steel plus a magnet changes both the moving mass and the shape of the force curve, so the printer measures the wrong thing. Which is why the manufacturer warns about it at all: with a flexible plate the machine starts throwing "Resin exceeded maximum limit" on a part-filled vat and "Foreign matter detected" on a clean floor.
- If a flex plate is already installed and the printer is misbehaving, put the stock plate back and run the self-test before chasing anything else.
- Prints come off the stock Saturn 4 plate far easier if you take the plate off the machine, let the resin drain and lift the part from a corner with a stiff spatula.
- The stock plate is quick-release: for washing, take the whole plate off rather than wrestling a part loose in mid-air.
- The Saturn 4 plate barely fits an Elegoo Mercury wash station — measure before you commit to automated washing.
14. The printer cannot see your file: Saturn 4 reads .goo only
This is the trap that catches almost every new owner. The stick is in, the printer sees it, and there are no files in the list — or the file shows up but the Print button does nothing. The supported-format table in Elegoo's official wiki spells it out: Saturn 4 Ultra and Ultra 16K take .ctb and .goo, Saturn 3 Ultra takes both, Saturn 2 takes .ctb only — and the base Saturn 4 reads .goo exclusively.
Hence the usual stories: sliced in Chitubox with another model's profile and got .ctb; saved plain G-code; grabbed the Saturn 4 Ultra preset because it appeared first in the list. Check the format before you start blaming the stick or the port.
- Pick the ELEGOO Saturn 4 profile in your slicer — not the Ultra — and confirm the export is a .goo file.
- Format the stick as FAT32, 16 GB or smaller. NTFS and large drives frequently do not register at all.
- Windows' built-in formatter refuses FAT32 on some drives; use guiformat or Rufus instead.
- Name files with Latin letters and digits only — no spaces, no accents, no special characters. Keep them short.
- Put the file in the root of the drive, not in a folder.
- If the stick is not read at all: power down, unplug the brick and clean the port with a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol. A loose port is tightened by gently bending the retaining spring inward with tweezers.
- File visible but Print does nothing — the file is nearly always corrupted in transfer or sliced for the wrong machine. Re-slice and copy it again.
15. Firmware drops out: ELEGOO logo, "100% V1.1", black screen
The printer powers up, the fan spins, and the interface never loads. It shows up three ways: stuck on the ELEGOO splash, frozen on "100%" and "V1.1", or a black screen with no logo at all. Sometimes it happens after a normal shutdown, sometimes after a failed update.
- Grab a FAT32 stick of 16 GB or less and format it clean.
- Download the firmware for your model from the Elegoo download centre, unpack it and drop the files in the root of the stick — no folders, no renaming.
- Insert the stick into the powered-off printer and switch it on. The update starts by itself.
- No luck — email support and attach a photo of your motherboard. The Saturn 4 shipped with more than one board revision and the recovery firmware differs; the file from the website may not match yours.
- If even their file will not revive it: power down, remove the seven screws in the bottom cover, leave only the touchscreen ribbon connected, unplug everything else and power up.
- Interface loads — one of the disconnected parts is shorted, so reconnect them one at a time to find it. Interface still dead — the motherboard needs replacing.
16. Elegoo SatelLite 1.0.2.05 hangs while slicing
The February update to Elegoo's own slicer, SatelLite 1.0.2.05, broke slicing for a chunk of its users: the progress bar sticks at 0%, the timer keeps ticking, the window stops responding and the process has to be killed. It reproduces on saved projects and on fresh imports alike.
In the r/elegoo thread several owners on Windows 11 confirmed it, Saturn 4 users among them. The reliable fix is rolling back to 1.0.1.49. Updating GPU drivers cleared it for some people, and a few others found the hang went away with anti-aliasing turned off.
- Update your GPU driver and try slicing again — that was enough for some of the affected users.
- Turn anti-aliasing off in the resin settings; that is where SatelLite falls over most often.
- Still hanging — uninstall 1.0.2.05 and install 1.0.1.49.
- The separate "Failed to export GOO sliced file" error when saving straight to a USB stick has two workarounds: save to disk and copy manually, or run SatelLite as administrator.
- If you would rather not wait for a fix, the Saturn 4 is officially supported by Chitubox and Voxeldance Tango, both of which export .goo.
17. Chitubox: "Inconsistent Slicing and Projection Resolution"
The file slices, copies to the stick, and the printer refuses it with a complaint that slicing resolution and projection resolution do not match. It means precisely what it says: the machine profile in Chitubox carries a bed resolution other than the one the Saturn 4 panel actually runs — 11520 × 5120 pixels.
- In Chitubox, open Slice Settings in the bottom right corner.
- Switch to the Machine tab and check the Resolution field: for the Saturn 4 it is 11520 × 5120.
- While you are there, verify the build volume — 218.88 × 122.88 × 220 mm.
- Save the profile and re-slice. The old file keeps its old resolution regardless.
- If you are editing a profile by hand, it is safer to delete the printer and re-add it from the official presets so you cannot miss a field.
18. A band every 200 layers on sloped surfaces
A thin horizontal line shows up on gentle slopes at a perfectly regular pitch. For one Saturn 4 owner it was exactly 6 mm at a 0.03 mm layer height — every 200 layers. That regularity rules mechanics out immediately: lead screw backlash and worn bearings do not keep time to the layer.
The cause is pixel quantization. A sloped face on an MSLA printer is a stack of steps one pixel wide. Until the model's angle matches the ratio of layer height to pixel width, the step slowly accumulates and every N layers the outline jumps a whole pixel at once. That jump is the band you see.
It is more visible on the Saturn 4 than on many machines because the pixel is not square: 19 µm horizontally against 24 µm vertically. So the "good" tilt angle differs between the two axes, and a model that printed beautifully on its side cannot simply be rotated 90° with the same expectations.
- Pick the tilt angle from arctan(layer height / pixel width) so the steps land evenly instead of drifting. rc87's angle calculator does the maths for you.
- Remember there are two axes: 19 µm and 24 µm give different "correct" angles for left-right versus front-back tilt.
- Drop the layer height to 0.02 mm — the drift happens more often and in smaller increments, so the band stops reading as a line.
- Reorient the part so the offending face is not almost parallel to the plate: the closer to vertical, the fewer steps per millimeter.
- Turn anti-aliasing on in the slicer; it softens the step boundary and blurs the transition.
- If the bands are uneven and the pitch wanders, this is not quantization — look at mechanics or delamination in our layer shifting guide.
19. Parts break off in the middle of a packed plate
The plate is loaded end to end, the print runs, and at some point the cluster of parts in the middle simply stops growing — all of them on the same layer — while everything around the edges keeps printing. The settings are the ones that worked fine on smaller batches.
It comes down to total peel force. The larger the layer's cross-section, the harder the film holds it, and the middle of the plate suffers first because that is where the film flexes least. The Saturn 4 has no tilting vat to peel a layer off gradually from one edge, so its ceiling on plate density is noticeably lower than the Ultra's.
- Filter the resin. A fragment of an earlier failure in the vat produces exactly this picture — the print gets sheared off in one spot.
- Add 2–4 mm of lift distance. This is the first knob to turn: it gives the film time to flatten out.
- Slow the lift speed and add a 1–2 second rest after retract.
- Tilt the models and spread them across the plate so each layer's area grows gradually rather than in a step.
- Hollow large parts and add drain holes — a hollow model pulls on the film several times less than a solid one.
- Check the film: stretched and hazy holds harder than new, and once it sags the peel becomes unpredictable.
- Warm the resin to 25–30 °C — cold thick resin raises peel force on its own.
20. The small things you only learn after buying
None of these break a print, but every one of them surfaces in the first few weeks and sours the experience. Better to know them before you order than to hunt for a workaround afterwards.
- Nothing to power a USB air purifier from. The spec sheet says it plainly: USB connection for the air purifier is unavailable. That leaves Elegoo's self-contained Mars Mate with its carbon cartridge, or proper extraction — see our fumes and ventilation guide.
- No drip bib. The Saturn 4 Ultra ships with a tray that catches drips when you pull the plate; it is not sold separately for the base model. Expect to keep a paper towel handy or print your own.
- The hood cracks along the angled front edge. It does not affect printing, but it shows up within weeks and looks bad.
- The 3.5-inch control screen is resistive. It responds to pressure rather than touch, so you have to press with intent — more so with gloves on. The Saturn 4 Ultra fits a 4-inch capacitive screen in the same spot.
- Interface language is Chinese or English only. The base Saturn 4 gets those two, while the Saturn 4 Ultra ships with a list of twelve.
- No Wi-Fi, no networking. The only way to move a file is a USB stick. There is no remote start or monitoring out of the box.
- 220 mm of Z height. The Saturn 3 gave you 250 mm with the same 12K panel; if you print busts and tall figures, you will feel the difference.
If the tilting vat, the speed and the networking sound like dealbreakers, the Saturn 4 Ultra is the machine to look at: same 10-inch 12K panel, but 150 mm/h instead of 70, a tilting vat and a print monitoring camera.
Saturn 4 error message reference
The Saturn 4 has no numeric error codes — it prints short English phrases instead. Here are the ones you will actually meet, with the section that covers the fix.

Warranty periods by part
Elegoo splits its warranty by part, and the spread is enormous. Keep this in mind when deciding between fixing something yourself and demanding a replacement: DIY repair on a part still in warranty almost always works against you.
