Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2: 30 Known Issues and Fixes
30 Centauri Carbon 2 and CANVAS problems: a 24 V toolhead port, an incompatible first-gen hotend, firmware 02.00.02.00 with no rollback and no SSH, cracked base plates and color-change jams. Full error code table and step-by-step fixes.
The Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 is an enclosed CoreXY with a 256×256×256 mm build volume, a 350 °C hardened nozzle, a 110 °C bed and a built-in four-channel CANVAS unit; the Combo launched worldwide on 26 January 2026 at a $449 list price and now sells for noticeably less. It is a genuinely good machine, but it has a very specific set of failure modes — from a USB-C port that carries 24 V to firmware you can no longer roll back.
This article covers only what is specific to the Centauri Carbon 2 and its CANVAS unit. Generic FDM trouble — first layer, clogs, stringing, warping, layer shifts — lives in separate deep-dive guides linked at the end. Every entry below gives the symptom, the actual cause and a fix list ordered from simple to invasive, plus a full error code table.
The toolhead USB-C carries 24 V: errors 801 and 803, a 4000 °C nozzle and smoke
This is the nastiest failure on the Centauri Carbon 2. The printer starts throwing 801 and 803, the screen shows an impossible nozzle temperature like 4000 °C, and the machine drops into a reboot loop. The cable running to the toolhead gets noticeably hot — a few owners reported actual smoke.
The OpenCentauri teardown confirms the pinout: 24 V on Vbus instead of 5 V. The second half of the problem is glue. On some units the socket is potted with hot glue so it survives shipping. When an owner follows the wiki and disconnects the cable, the glue holds harder than the pins and the contacts chip off. Support then ships a mainboard, a toolhead adapter board and a new cable — and replacing each of those means tearing down most of the machine.
- Flip the switch off and pull the cord from the wall. Only then touch anything on the toolhead.
- Inspect the socket. If you see hot glue, soften it with 99% isopropyl alcohol or gentle heat from the back of the board. Never yank the cable.
- Reseat the cable and see if the error clears. If the socket wiggles, tack it down with a drop of CA glue — that is exactly what fixed erratic temperature readings for several owners.
- If pins are already chipped or the cable ran hot, it is a replacement job. Email support with photos and the serial number from the back panel.
- Do not run the printer while you wait. An overheating power cable is a fire risk, not an inconvenience.
The first-gen hotend does not fit: a 30–40 °C offset and error 1243
A classic trap. You buy a hotend advertised for the Centauri series, bolt it onto a Centauri Carbon 2 and end up with under-extrusion, weak layer bonding and heatbreak clogs on every material change. Elegoo's own wiki is blunt about it: the Centauri Carbon and Centauri Carbon 2 hotends are different and not interchangeable.
The culprit is the thermistor. With the wrong one, real temperature and displayed temperature differ by 30–40 °C, and owners end up running roughly 20 °C hotter than the profile says. The problem is that built-in routines — purging, cleaning, color changes — run at fixed temperatures, so an under-heated hotend jams on them every time.
- You can tell them apart by eye: Centauri Carbon 2 hotends have reddish thermistor leads, first-gen ones are black.
- Only buy parts that explicitly say "Centauri Carbon 2", not a vague "Centauri series".
- Already bought the wrong one? Swap in the thermistor and ceramic heater from a Centauri Carbon 2 hotend. Owners do this and it works.
- The popular third-party option with the correct thermistor is the Micro Swiss Flowtech, which also makes nozzle swaps far less painful.
- The swap itself takes a minute: two connectors and two 2.5 mm hex screws. Run the full auto calibration afterwards — PID, resonance and bed.
Cracks in the plastic base plate near the front door
The first generation had a metal bottom panel. On the Centauri Carbon 2 it is injection-molded plastic, and it cracks — usually at three points near the front door. Some owners find the cracks while unboxing, others notice them after two or three days of printing. The shipping box is typically pristine.
- Inspect the base before the first power-on and photograph it. The evidence is useful either way.
- Bought from a marketplace? Return it. That is by far the fastest route.
- Bought direct from Elegoo? Email support with photos and the serial number — they ship a cast replacement panel and there is a video guide for it.
- Be aware that direct returns carry a 5–15% restocking fee plus deductions for anything missing from the box.
Screen stays dark or freezes during first-time setup
Two variants. Either the backlight comes on and the logo never appears, or the screen freezes on the "clear the build plate" step of first-time setup and never comes back after a power cycle. In both cases the ribbon cable is the usual suspect: it ships connected but works loose in transit on the mainboard side.
- Check the switch indicator. Dark? Pull the fuse from the inlet and inspect it: 5×20 mm glass, 10 A, 250 V. Never fit a higher-rated one.
- Power down, remove the screen, release the latch and inspect the ribbon for bent or broken contacts.
- Remove the ten bottom cover screws with a 2.0 mm hex key and reseat the ribbon at the mainboard end — this is the step that revives most dead screens.
- After that it is multimeter territory: PSU indicator and 24 V output. If you are not comfortable probing live mains, stop and contact support.
45 dB on paper, a shaking desk in practice
Elegoo rates the Centauri Carbon 2 at 45 dB against 55 dB for the first generation, and side by side it really is quieter. But 45 dB is the calm case. One owner measured 72 dB at half a meter during a normal print, and at 500 mm/s an enclosed 17.5 kg CoreXY will move light furniture: some owners had a spool jump off its holder, one had the toolhead cover shaken loose mid-print.
- Glass tops and hollow desks act as resonators. Put the printer on something solid and heavy.
- A paving slab under the machine with a silicone mat beneath it kills most of the sway.
- Press each of the four corners. If the machine rocks, shim it and re-home.
- Anti-vibration feet ship as standard here (first-gen owners printed their own), but they harden over time and are sold as a set.
- Toggle each fan individually from the screen to find the noisy one.

CANVAS jams after five or six color changes
Single-color prints run flawlessly, then a multicolor job stops extruding around the fifth or sixth swap. The screen fills with 1242, 1251, 1252, 1263 and 1265: filament did not arrive within 30 seconds, unload failed, filament tangled. What makes it maddening is that the fault wanders between channels and repeats with different spools.
Here is the mechanism. Brittle or long-loaded filament snaps exactly in the gap between the hotend and the extruder gears, right where the optical sensor sits. The fragment stays in the 4-in-1 hub or the multiplexer, and the next feed pushes straight into it. The other common source is filament diameter: the PTFE bore is only 2 mm and Elegoo PLA is specified at ±0.02 mm.
- Measure the filament with calipers at five points along a meter, rotating it between readings. Out-of-spec filament will jam in the channel, guaranteed.
- Dry your spools. CANVAS has no drying, so the filament sits in open air — see our filament drying guide.
- Hold the filament by the tip until it is all the way into the channel. Let go early and a loop slips under the next one and tangles.
- The multiplexer on the extruder opens without tools: the halves are held by clips, squeeze them and pull the fragment out.
- The 4-in-1 hub comes off with two screws. To reach the lower one, unbolt the toolhead cable or shift one link of the cable chain.
- Abrasive filaments — glitter and glow — kill a channel's sensor after 3–5 kg. Run those straight into the toolhead instead of through CANVAS.
Error 1231: the cutter did not cut
"Filament cut failed. Please check if the cutter block has been removed" — and the printer refuses to load or unload filament at all, even with the striker block sitting right where it belongs. Color changes are impossible: the machine has to cut the strand before every channel switch.
Per the wiki's error 1231 write-up, the cutter is driven by a lever on the toolhead that presses against a striker block in the lower right corner of the frame, next to the front door. A Hall sensor on a dedicated board watches the action, and it has to see both the press and the spring-loaded return. A loose block, a sticky lever or a half-seated connector stops the whole color-change cycle.
- Find the striker block right of the front door and wiggle it. Any play, tighten its screws with a 2.0 mm hex key.
- Press the cutter lever by hand. It should move smoothly and spring back on its own. If it does not return, the cutter is done.
- Pull the toolhead front cover and reseat the cutter detection board connector.
- If you are opening a support ticket, film the whole cutter stroke from above during an unload command. It saves a week of back and forth.
The 4-in-1 hub: tubes that will not come out and a screw you cannot reach
Clearing a jam means pulling the hub, and that is where it starts. The collets grip the PTFE tubes hard enough that Tom's Hardware could not free one even with the supplied printed tool and a second pair of hands. And the lower hub screw sits behind the toolhead cable, so owners routinely strip it or drop it inside the chassis.
- Do not fight the tubes. Remove the whole hub, it is held by two screws.
- Power the printer down first, then unbolt the toolhead cable (two 1.5 mm hex screws) or shift one link of the cable chain out of the way.
- Keep the key square to the socket. A ball-end hex key only makes rounding more likely here.
- Already rounded? Lay a thin rubber band over the head and press the hex key through it. If that fails, the wiki's own answer is to cut the toolhead housing away with flush cutters and grip the screw with needle-nose pliers.
- Never reuse a stripped screw. It is an M3×6 countersunk.
Spool holders: a click every minute and third-party spools that do not fit
Every minute or two you hear a dry click and the spool jumps forward. It is not a fault: Centauri Carbon 2 holders are not free-spinning. Inside each one is a spring-loaded ratchet that rewinds filament when CANVAS retracts it. With no grease at the friction face the clutch winds up to maximum and slips with a snap.
- Peel off the number sticker, undo the three cover screws and grease the ratchet face. The click disappears.
- No-teardown alternative: turn the center screw on the front of the holder a quarter turn clockwise at a time until it stops clicking.
- Holders must sit in their numbered positions, otherwise the rewind drives the wrong channel and filament binds.
- Line up the spool rim with the holder. A misaligned spool falls off, especially at high speed.
- Third-party spools are their own story. The geometry targets Elegoo reels: Tom's Hardware broke a holder on a cardboard spool, and owners report third-party reels seizing and tearing the rubber grips off. Print your own holders, or pull the stock ones and feed from a dry box instead; they slide off easily.
TPU through CANVAS does not work: you need the printed adapter on channel 1
Flexible filament loads into the channel but never reaches the toolhead: weak feeding, feed errors, jams. On some machines CANVAS sees the TPU while the toolhead sensor does not. Elegoo's wiki does not dodge it — printing TPU through CANVAS is not supported, because CANVAS is a Bowden path and soft filament simply buckles inside the tube.
The direct drive itself handles TPU beautifully — Tom's Hardware printed 95A TPU without complaints. The only question is how to get the filament to the toolhead.
- Print the official TPU adapter and fit it to channel 1. You will need three collets with clips and two lengths of 4/2 mm PTFE, 48 mm and 25 mm.
- Feed the filament in from the bottom of the adapter and push until it reaches the hub on the toolhead. The toolhead icon on the screen turns green when it arrives.
- In Filament → Edit set the type to TPU and tap Load TPU.
- Watch the temperature trap: auto leveling heats the bed to 60 °C while the TPU profile wants 35 °C. Cooling back down takes 15–25 minutes — either live with it or skip auto leveling for that job.
- For a one-off print you can simply remove the splitter tube and feed filament straight into the toolhead from above.
Four red LEDs on CANVAS and prints freezing at random layers
The CANVAS indicators flash red continuously after power-on, and prints freeze at arbitrary layers. Elegoo gave this its own wiki page, and the cause is always the same: a bad contact somewhere along the module's communication link.
- Power down and reseat the CANVAS communication cable at the back of the printer.
- Remove the bottom cover (ten screws, 2.0 mm hex) and reseat the CANVAS extension cable at the mainboard end.
- Still flashing? Take the CANVAS off: release the tubes by pressing the fittings with tweezers, undo three bracket screws and six housing screws. They come in three lengths — M3×18, M3×8 and M3×45 — so keep them sorted.
- Reseat the two connectors on the CANVAS board. If nothing changes, the board or the cable is faulty and it is a warranty job.
The cost of color: up to half the filament wasted and more than twice the print time
Not a defect, but the reason plenty of owners sour on the machine. There is one nozzle, and every color change means purging it. Retailers put the loss at 10–50% of material depending on how many swaps a model needs. For scale: one owner's model took 32 hours on a Centauri Carbon 2 and 14 hours on a toolchanger.
- Turn on purge-to-infill in the slicer instead of building a separate tower — visible waste drops noticeably.
- Swapping colors on every layer is what really eats time. Design color zones as tall blocks where you can.
- Print several copies at once: one purge covers the whole batch.
- Fit a waste chute. First-gen owners could skip it; here there is an order of magnitude more scrap.
- Do not bin the offcuts — feed them back into a spare channel and let CANVAS use them up.
Purge lands outside the chute: blobs under the nozzle and error 707
Waste piles up under the nozzle and around the frame instead of dropping into the chute. It escalates from there: the pile props up the toolhead, knocks the magnetic front cover off, and the screen shows 707, toolhead cover detached. A nozzle bent by a blob of molten plastic produces the same symptom for a different reason — the head simply no longer lines up with the chute.
- Push the wiper arm by hand: the plate must spring back on its own. If it does not, open the wiper box and clear the debris.
- Drive the toolhead to Y-max and confirm the stopper reaches the frame and the cable sleeve is routed correctly.
- Loosen the four X/Y tensioner screws, work the head back and forth so the tensioners set themselves, then tighten again.
- Check the nozzle for a bend. A bent one gets replaced, not straightened.
- Print a waste bin with enough drop. Without the drop it fills up and knocks the toolhead cover off — a failure mode owners hit repeatedly.
- The toolhead cover holds on three magnets. Weak or missing ones are replaceable, and until they are, 707 will keep coming back.
False home: sensorless homing reads dry rods as an endstop
The toolhead stops short of the chute before parking, homes somewhere in the middle of the bed, and feels notchy when you push it by hand. X and Y homing on the Centauri Carbon 2 is sensorless — there are no endstop switches. A dry or dirty rod adds drag, the board reads it as the endstop, and the head stops early.
- Wipe the X and Y rods with a lint-free cloth, apply white lithium grease and work the head by hand to spread it.
- Go thin. Excess grease collects dust and turns into grinding paste within a month.
- Inspect the rods for scoring, dents, rust and flaking coating. A damaged rod gets replaced; grease will not save it.
- Check belt tension: loosen the four tensioner screws, work the head along X and Y, tighten again.
- Jog one axis at a time from the screen so you can tell which one is binding.
- Elegoo's interval is every 250–300 hours or every three months. The full routine is in our 3D printer maintenance guide.
Errors 605 and 704: leveling aborts, nozzle probes the same spot forever
"Pressure sensor data error" or "Leveling failed". Sometimes the nozzle probes one spot over and over and keeps descending — that one is genuinely dangerous for the PEI coating. The bed on the Centauri Carbon 2 has its own controller with strain gauges, and it is easy to confuse.
- Get the printer off wheeled furniture and off carpet. Any rigid flat surface works; for a test, use the floor.
- After homing, compare how far the three Z lead screws protrude. If they differ, level them per Elegoo's procedure.
- Reseat the strain gauge cables under the bed.
- If the nozzle probes one spot, swap the cables of the two sensors in that row and retry. Fault moves — the sensor is bad; fault stays — it is the adapter board.
- Last resort is manual leveling with a sheet of A4 and the lock nuts under the bed, followed by a fresh auto level.

Firmware 02.00.02.00 removed SSH and blocked downgrades
On 28 May 2026 Elegoo shipped 02.00.02.00. It fixed the intermittent 803 heating error and some network dropouts — and it also stripped SSH access entirely and blocked installing anything older than itself. The full Centauri Carbon 2 firmware archive is maintained by the OpenCentauri community. Updates arrive as .zip.sig packages onto an A/B partition scheme managed by swupdate. Recovering a bricked printer now means UART or FEL mode, which is soldering and extra hardware territory.
- Do not update on principle. Install a version only when it fixes a problem you actually have — that is the consensus among owners of both generations.
- If you want to keep the ability to roll back, stay on 01.03.02.36 or 01.03.02.51.
- If you need to downgrade anyway, the OpenCentauri community repacked 01.03.02.51. It installs from USB via Settings → Check for Updates → Offline Update, entirely at your own risk.
- When over-the-air updates fail — the global link for 02.01.00.00 returned an error for its first day — drop the .zip.sig file onto a FAT32 stick and update offline.
- What 02.01.00.00 added on 8 July 2026: cloud printing through the Matrix app with the NexPrint library, and Z-axis resonance compensation on top of X and Y.
Errors 2002 and 2003: the cloud drops and takes app pairing with it
"Cloud access failed" or "Failed to retrieve initialization data from the cloud": the QR code never renders, no PIN appears, and the Matrix app insists the printer is offline while it sits there powered and connected. The wiki lists four causes, but in February 2026 owners across Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific hit 2003 on the same day — the server went down for everyone at once.
- The workaround that fixes it for most people: Settings → LAN only → enable, then disable, reboot the printer and pair again by QR code.
- Check the region and time zone. Elegoo lists a wrong region after a factory reset as a primary cause of 2003.
- Reboot the router and ping the printer's IP from your computer — there should be no packet loss.
- Router far away, use 2.4 GHz; router in the same room, prefer 5 GHz.
- Test on a phone hotspot. No error there means the problem is your network, not the printer.
LAN-only mode fixes the connection and disables the AI camera
The trade-off is stark. In LAN-only mode the slicer finally sees the printer, jobs upload reliably, dropouts stop. But you lose spaghetti and mid-air detection, remote video and the Matrix app along with the cloud. The printer cannot do local and cloud at the same time, and owners have been asking for that split for months.
- Decide which matters more: reliable job upload or AI supervision. There is no middle setting.

- Reserve a static IP for the printer on your router, otherwise the address changes after a reboot and the slicer loses it.
- On your own network the camera stream is available in a browser at http://printer-ip:8080.
OrcaSlicer slices but cannot start a print: closed protocol, no web interface
The first generation and the Neptunes had an onboard web interface — point a browser at the IP and you were in control. The Centauri Carbon 2 does not: port 80 returns a 404 and only the camera stream on 8080 answers. The communication protocol is proprietary, so vanilla Orca either never finds the machine or replies "port unauthorised".
Official Orca now ships a Centauri Carbon 2 profile and uploads files over the network — but there is no Upload and Print button. You start the job from the device tab or on the printer itself, and Elegoo confirmed that limitation directly in the OrcaSlicer pull request that added support for the model: LAN uploads yes, upload-and-print no, WAN connections not supported at all. If the printer has an access code enabled, it goes in the API Key field.
- For network printing use ElegooSlicer. It is the same Orca underneath, with a working protocol and tuned profiles.
- Prefer Orca? Slice there and start the job from the device tab. Orca itself is covered in our OrcaSlicer guide.
- USB works without drama: FAT32, up to 16 GB. The same stick takes the log export from Settings → Export Log File.
Prints quit right after the prime line
The printer calibrates, lays down the prime line at the front edge, returns to the home screen and stops. You are left with four stringy stubs of plastic and a job that counts as started. It showed up on early units and returned after some updates, including 02.00.02.00; Elegoo never shipped a dedicated fix.
- Switch the printer off and on. Power-loss recovery kicks in and the job continues from where it stopped — this is the workaround owners actually use.
- Slice in ElegooSlicer with the Centauri Carbon 2 profile. Files from vanilla Orca trigger the fault more often.
- If it happens every time, export the log to a USB stick and attach it to your support ticket along with a video.
The camera drops out, and turning the light off can kill the AI
Two different symptoms that get conflated. First: the stream disappears after a few hours and only comes back after a full power cycle — reproducible on 01.03.01.89 and on later firmware. Second, and worse: switch the chamber light off mid-print and the screen locks into an AI camera status error. A factory reset does not clear it, and neither does five minutes unplugged.
- Do not switch the chamber light off during a print if you rely on AI detection — the detection goes down with the light.
- Reseat the camera ribbon per the wiki. Sometimes that is enough.
- If it does not return after 5–10 minutes fully unplugged, contact support. The camera is a cheap part and several owners had one shipped without argument.
- While you wait, the stream is still viewable in a browser on port 8080.
Wi-Fi does not reconnect on power-up
Power the printer on and there is no network until you tap the SSID by hand. Leave it idle and the connection drops. Smart plugs are useless with this machine: you cannot power it up remotely and immediately send a job.
- Forget the network on the printer and connect again — that restored auto-connect for several owners.
- Reserve the IP against the printer's MAC address on your router.
- LAN-only mode drops far less often.
- The firmware now warns about a weak signal with its own notification, added in 02.00.02.00.
The load routine only heats to 250 °C, so engineering material never clears out
Print polycarbonate or nylon, switch to PLA and you get a heatbreak clog. Going the other way is no better: the old material carbonises. The reason is annoyingly simple — the stock load routine heats the nozzle to a fixed 250 °C. That is fine for PLA, PETG and TPU and not nearly enough for PC, PA or PET, and the load screen offers no temperature choice at all — a point the Tom's Hardware review singles out.
- Before changing material types, set the temperature for the outgoing material manually via Control → Prepare and push 20–30 cm of the new filament through.
- Follow high-temperature materials with a cold pull.
- Never alternate high and low temperature filaments without a purge — the wiki names this as a direct cause of clogs.

Filament Ramming breaks extrusion
Rare but infuriating: you get 1243, extrusion failed, check for a clog — while the nozzle is clean, the filament is fresh and the gears are fine. One setting is responsible. Filament Ramming is disabled by default in ElegooSlicer; enable it by hand, or import a profile that has it on, and the printer throws the error.
- Untick Filament Ramming, re-slice and print again.
- When importing profiles from vanilla Orca, check this box specifically — it is easy to miss.
The slicer blocks the print when filament names do not match
The file is ready, the filament is loaded, and the upload is refused because the slicer thinks the wrong material sits in that channel. The check runs on profile names, and the lists on the printer and in the slicer do not always line up — Tom's Hardware flagged this in its review.
- Set the filament type on the printer screen as you load each channel.
- Hit Sync in the slicer to pull the channel contents across.
- If they still disagree, rename the filament profile in the slicer to match the printer exactly, character for character.
- You can also tag your own spools with NFC stickers: the CANVAS RFID reader is open, and the community built a free browser tool for writing tags.
No chamber heating: 35–45 °C and a top hat that leaks it
There is a 350 °C nozzle, a 110 °C bed and a sealed enclosure — but no active chamber heater. Only temperature monitoring, circulation and venting, which puts the chamber at 35–45 °C while printing. Tom's Hardware got clean polycarbonate and nylon-CF out of it, but large ABS parts and heavily filled composites still warp and split along layer lines.
- Heat soak with the bed: set 100–110 °C, close the door and lid, kill the part cooling fan and wait 20–30 minutes.
- Fit an aftermarket chamber heater. Centauri Carbon 2 owners hold 53–60 °C that way and describe ABS and ASA as printing "like PLA".
- Insulate the enclosure, or the Combo's top hat will undo the heating.
- For carbon composites, chamber temperature matters more than nozzle temperature: in a cold chamber the part fails along layers rather than through walls.
- Do not push past 40 °C ambient. The printer is rated for 5–40 °C, and above that heat creep starts in the heatbreak.

The filter covers only half of the exhaust fan
HEPA and coconut carbon are on the spec sheet, yet ABS and ASA still smell. Look at the exhaust and you can see why: the cartridge sits across half of the fan outlet, so some of the airflow bypasses it entirely. The printer does close its servo-driven vent when you select a smelly material and pushes more air through the filter, but that only mitigates it.
- Print ABS, ASA, PC and PA in a non-living space or duct the exhaust outside. What actually comes off hot plastic is covered in our fumes and ventilation guide.
- Run a proper room air purifier with HEPA and a carbon basket next to the machine — that is what owners who share a room with it do.
- Replace the cartridge every three months and confirm with the Replaced button, or the counter never resets and 109 keeps returning.
- A vent that will not open or close is error 1101 or 1102: check for a dislodged grille magnet and for debris in the opening.
Spare parts are not on the shelf and support is a time zone away
This repeats the first-generation launch. For the first months there was simply no Centauri Carbon 2 hotend in Elegoo's own store, and the Q&A on the first-gen hotend listing explicitly said it was incompatible. Silicone nozzle wipers are still not sold separately — you request them through after-sales. Shipping takes anywhere from a week and a half to three weeks.
- Email 3dp@elegoo.com and include the serial number from the back panel, the order number, photos and video in the first message. It cuts the back-and-forth short.
- Account for the time difference: a weekend email waits until Monday.
- If you did not buy from an authorised seller, go to the seller first — in the EU the warranty legally sits with them, and it is faster anyway.
- Keep the parts that actually fail on hand: nozzles, a thermistor, a ceramic heater and a silicone sock.
- If waiting is not an option, the Micro Swiss Flowtech hotend and third-party nozzle kits are freely available.
There is no skew calibration
Auto calibration on the Centauri Carbon 2 covers the bed, Z offset, pressure advance and resonance — but not frame geometry. There is no skew compensation in the firmware, and owners coming from Klipper machines notice immediately: parts that should be rectangular come out slightly rhomboid and fits drift.
- Check for skew by printing a calibration cube and measuring the diagonals with calipers.
- Fix it mechanically — frame squareness and bed seating.
- Small errors can be compensated in the model or with slicer scaling.
- Noticeable skew on a new machine is a support case. Software will not fix it.
Shipping damage: bent panels, chipped edges, dead on arrival
The box weighs around 25 kg with foam inserts and reinforced corners, and couriers still manage to damage it — while the packaging usually looks untouched. The complaints repeat: a left panel sticking out, a bent side, a shattered glass door. In the worst cases the machine will not talk to any slicer, reports an impossible nozzle temperature and refuses to feed from any channel.
- Film the unboxing and inspect the frame, door, base and panels BEFORE the first power-on.
- Walk the connectors — screen, bed ribbon, CANVAS cable, toolhead cable — but only with the switch off and the cord unplugged.
- Obvious damage means a return, before you print anything. The conversation gets much harder after the first job.
- Buying direct from Elegoo, transit damage is normally handled through shipping insurance.
- Assembly takes about 45 minutes even at a relaxed pace, so there is plenty of time to look things over.
Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 error code reference
Screen codes and the first thing worth checking for each. The 1211–1267 range belongs to CANVAS: on a bare machine without the module you will never see them.
