Description
The Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 is an entry-level enclosed CoreXY printer with multicolor printing: the four-spool CANVAS unit sits on the hood, bundled with the Combo or sold on its own. Against the first Centauri Carbon it adds a 350 °C nozzle, quieter running and fully automatic calibration.
Build volume is 256×256×256 mm, top speed 500 mm/s (250 mm/s recommended), acceleration up to 20,000 mm/s². The hardened steel nozzle hits 350 °C instead of 320 °C, the bed goes to 110 °C, and the Z axis rides on three lead screws and three guide rods. The enclosure and its HEPA filter open up ABS, ASA, PC, nylon and carbon-filled blends; rated noise is 45 dB.
Pros
- 350 °C nozzle and a sealed enclosure: reviewers run ABS, ASA, PC and carbon-filled filament with no mods, against 320 °C on the first generation
- Quieter than its predecessor: 45 dB rated against 50 dB, thanks to softer feet and extra damping
- Canvas feeds 95A and harder TPU without drama, which Tom's Hardware calls rare for a four-spool changer
- Auto calibration with input shaping on the first print: box to first model takes 10–15 minutes
- No cloud account needed: printing and monitoring run over the local network, and RFID spools load their profile
- The camera catches spaghetti and mid-air printing and records time-lapses; a separate sensor watches for clogs
Cons
- The chamber is not actively heated: it sits around 35–45 °C while printing, marginal for large ABS parts
- Color costs filament — on a four-color figure 3DWithUs purged nearly as much material as the model weighed, and the job ran 14 hours
- Stock spool holders miss many third-party spools, and the smooth plate side grips worse than the textured one
- With the Canvas hood and spool arms it eats far more desk space than the original, and the interior light is dim
It suits anyone who wants an enclosed CoreXY that works out of the box: enclosures and functional parts in engineering plastics, colorful figures and signs at the weekend. Beginners get auto calibration and ready ElegooSlicer profiles, veterans get 350 °C and local control. Reviewers do not recommend it for round-the-clock production.
Bottom line: a solid enclosed CoreXY with multicolor printing that undercuts comparable enclosed machines. The price of color is purge waste and an unheated chamber.
