Description

The Elegoo Neptune 4 is the entry model of the family: an open-frame bed slinger with direct drive and Klipper preinstalled. Ender 3-style motion, new electronics — PLA and PETG print fast, and you don't pay for an enclosure. Klipper hides behind Elegoo's own shell: the speed is there immediately, the web interface takes work to reach.

Build volume is 225×225×265 mm, the nozzle hits 300 °C, the bed 110 °C, acceleration is rated at 20,000 mm/s². The 500 mm/s headline is a peak: reviewers run the stock 250 mm/s, and The 3D Printer Bee hit 500 mm/s only on high-speed filament — a Benchy in 19 minutes. It weighs 8.3 kg and arrives 90% assembled, about half an hour of work.

Pros

  • Klipper out of the box on a 64-bit board: Input Shaper and Pressure Advance run on the printer, and under the shell sits plain Linux with a full web interface
  • Dual-gear 5.2:1 direct drive with hardened gears — Tom's Hardware calls out how well it feeds TPU
  • Two 4015 part fans that k3d.tech rates on par with a Bambu Lab P1S: walls don't sag at speed
  • The 300 °C hotend out-flows a plain V6, and a Volcano drops into the stock mount
  • Factory profiles are good out of the gate — nothing to tune before the first model
  • Double-sided magnetic PEI plate and 121-point leveling: parts pop off with a flex

Cons

  • No Wi-Fi: an Ethernet cable or a USB stick. A dongle takes the only USB port, so an accelerometer needs a hub
  • Bed leveling is a chore — a manual pass before the automatic one, and Tom's Hardware had the leveling wheels fall off mid-test: Ender 3 mechanics, Ender 3 quirks
  • The nozzle is a non-standard length between V6 and Volcano: Reddit owners say sourcing a replacement is harder than fitting one
  • With part cooling on, noise climbs past 60 dB against the usual 30–40 dB

It suits people printing PLA, PETG and TPU who don't mind an evening on the mechanics. Beginners live on the factory profiles; tinkerers get open electronics that take a Volcano, a USB accelerometer and the community OpenNept4une image.

Bottom line: a cheap bed slinger with real Klipper and strong cooling, paid for with wired networking, fussy leveling and a nozzle nobody else makes.
