Description
The Creality Ender-5 Max is a large-format CoreXY printer with a 400×400×400 mm build volume, released in 2025. It targets experienced makers and print farm operators who need a big workspace and high speed without stepping up to industrial machines. Its headline feature is the combination of CoreXY kinematics with a direct drive extruder and a powerful 1250 W platform — unusual for the Ender line, which has traditionally relied on bedslinger kinematics.
The Ender-5 Max reaches up to 700 mm/s print speed with acceleration up to 20,000 mm/s², supports input shaping, and offers fully automatic bed leveling. The 0.4 mm nozzle heats to 300 °C and the flexible epoxy build plate heats to 100 °C. Layer height ranges from 0.05 to 0.3 mm, total power is 1250 W, control is via a 4.3-inch color touchscreen, Wi-Fi, and Creality Cloud. Supported materials include PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU95A, PA, and PLA-CF. A monitoring camera is offered as an option.
Advantages
- Large 400×400×400 mm build volume — one of the biggest CoreXY printers under $800, suited for helmets, drone bodies, and functional parts
- Rigid metal frame with dual Z-axis — minimal vibration at 700 mm/s and stable geometry on tall prints
- Dual-gear direct drive handles flexible filaments and composites (TPU95A, PLA-CF) confidently, a real step up from older Bowden Enders
- 1000 W heated bed reaches 80 °C in about 200 seconds — valuable time savings on large jobs
- Fully automatic bed leveling (up to 64 probing points on 2026 firmware) and filament runout sensor cut manual tweaking
- Unlocked firmware with Creality Print plus third-party slicer support — flexibility to tune your own profiles
Disadvantages
- Open frame without an enclosure — awkward for ABS and ASA in living spaces, and the motors are clearly audible at 700 mm/s
- Footprint of 649×721×850 mm and 25.9 kg weight — needs a sturdy desk and is hard to fit into a typical apartment
- Monitoring camera and timelapse support are optional, not included in the base kit
- Discontinued on the official US Creality store — spare parts and warranty are easier to get through Russian resellers
The Ender-5 Max is a fit for makers printing large prototypes, cosplay props, RC-model parts, and small-batch orders. It targets users with some experience — a beginner is better off starting with a smaller enclosed CoreXY, while experienced owners get a 64-liter work volume for around $800.
In 2026 the Ender-5 Max is still one of the most affordable ways to land a large-format CoreXY running at 700 mm/s. Its direct rival is the Sovol SV08 Max, but the Ender-5 Max wins on price in Russia and on the breadth of ready-made profiles in Creality Print.
