Description

The Anycubic Kobra S1 Max is a large-format enclosed CoreXY FDM printer and the flagship of the Kobra line. It targets experienced users and small workshops that need large functional parts in engineering materials. Its key feature is an active 65 °C heated chamber, which the smaller Kobra S1 lacks.

The build volume is 350×350×350 mm, with print speeds up to 600 mm/s and acceleration up to 20,000 mm/s² (300 mm/s and 10,000 mm/s² recommended). The direct-drive extruder with hardened gears and a 350 °C hotend, paired with a PEI spring-steel bed up to 120 °C, covers PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS, ASA, PC, nylon and carbon-filled composites (PA6-CF, PC-CF, PET-CF). The fully enclosed frame with active chamber heating retains heat for large warp-free parts, and 4–16-color printing is handled by the ACE Pro auto-feeding system (in the Combo version).

Pros

  • Large 350×350×350 mm build area — big functional parts and batches of models in a single run
  • Active 65 °C heated chamber and 350 °C hotend — print ABS, ASA, PC, nylon and carbon composites without warping
  • Strong print quality out of the box: reviewers note a consistent first layer thanks to LeviQ3.0 auto leveling
  • 4–16-color printing via the ACE Pro system, which also dries filament
  • Reliable over time: owners report few failed prints across hundreds of hours
  • Priced well below competitors with similar capabilities — large format and engineering materials for less

Cons

  • Multi-color printing wastes a lot of filament on purging during color changes, especially on small models
  • Proprietary components and enclosed electronics limit customization and make repairs harder
  • Not the best first printer: harder to learn and maintain than simple open-frame machines
  • Multi-color requires the ACE Pro system as a separate purchase — the Combo bundle costs noticeably more than the base unit

The Kobra S1 Max suits anyone who needs a large enclosed printer for engineering materials: enclosures, brackets, jigs, big prototypes, and multi-color objects with the ACE Pro add-on. It's a solid step up from a desktop printer to large format without overpaying for the brand.

Bottom line: one of the most affordable large enclosed CoreXY printers with a heated chamber — serious materials and a big format in exchange for a closed ecosystem and multi-color filament waste.
