Description

The Anycubic Kobra 4 is a fast open-frame bedslinger FDM printer aimed at beginners and hobbyists. Its highlights are an easy out-of-the-box start and optional 4- or 8-color printing through the external ACE 2 Pro system.

The build volume is 260×260×260 mm, with a recommended print speed of 300 mm/s and up to 600 mm/s at peak, plus acceleration up to 20,000 mm/s². The direct-drive extruder with a hardened steel nozzle reaches 300 °C, and the PEI spring-steel bed goes up to 100 °C, covering PLA, PETG and TPU 95A. LeviQ3.0 auto leveling with Z-offset, AI print-failure detection, a filament sensor and a 720P HD camera come standard, while multi-color printing is handled by the separate ACE 2 Pro module, which also dries filament.

Pros

  • Simple assembly and quick start — the printer arrives almost fully built, with minimal gantry setup
  • Excellent LeviQ3.0 auto leveling: Z-offset, PID tuning, resonance testing and bed leveling before every print
  • Good print quality out of the box for its price class with PLA and PETG
  • 4- or 8-color printing via ACE 2 Pro with improved filament loading and built-in drying
  • Quiet operation: ≤48 dB in standard mode and ≤45 dB in silent mode; ACE 2 Pro is nearly silent when not drying
  • AI print-failure detection, filament sensor, power-loss recovery and a 720P HD camera as standard

Cons

  • 600 mm/s is a marketing maximum: surface quality drops noticeably at that speed, with the real working speed closer to 300 mm/s
  • Multi-color requires the ACE 2 Pro module as a separate purchase — the Combo bundle costs noticeably more than the base unit
  • TPU can only be dried in the ACE 2 Pro, not fed through it — flexible filament has to use the single spool holder
  • Awkward lineup spot: the same-volume Kobra X has an integrated multi-color system without an external module

The Kobra 4 fits beginners and hobbyists who want an affordable, fast home printer: toys, prototypes and functional parts in PLA and PETG, plus multi-color objects with the ACE 2 Pro add-on. It's a convenient first printer with an easy start and strong auto leveling.

Bottom line: a competent budget bedslinger with excellent auto leveling and optional multi-color printing — a trade-off between price and true top speed.
