Elegoo Jupiter 2: 47 Known Issues and How to Fix Them
A breakdown of 47 Elegoo Jupiter 2 problems: an empty build plate after the first print, self-check errors, resin pump leaks, reboots on vat preheating, the sliced file size ceiling and SatelLite slicer quirks. Fixes from Elegoo's own knowledge base and owner reports.
The Elegoo Jupiter 2 is a large-format resin printer built around a 14-inch 16K LCD at 15,120 × 6,230, a 302 × 162 × 300 mm build volume (roughly 14.6 liters), a heated vat and an automatic resin pump fed from a 2 kg bottle. It launched on 15 April 2026 at $949, and the verdict formed almost immediately: the printing part is excellent, everything around the printing is unfinished.
This article covers only the faults that belong to the Jupiter 2 specifically: self-check failures, the behaviour of the resin pump, vat heating, firmware limits and the quirks of Elegoo's own SatelLite slicer. Generic resin printing problems — under-exposure, cupping blowouts, worn film — live in separate guides linked at the end. Everything below comes from Elegoo's own knowledge base, seven independent reviews and more than thirty owner threads posted between April and August 2026.
Nothing sticks to the build plate: the number one owner complaint
The story repeats almost word for word across dozens of posts: the first print comes out perfect, and after that the plate comes up empty every single time while the model stays welded to the film as a cured pancake. Five problems in this block, ordered from the most common down.
1. One good print, then an empty plate forever
An owner on r/resinprinting put it best: he had manually levelled the plate about twenty times, pushed bottom exposure to 40–60 seconds, gone through two release films and cleaned the vat after every job — and still got one good print followed by a string of empty plates. A second person in the same thread runs a commercial setup with seven other resin printers in a temperature-controlled room, and the Jupiter 2 is the only unreliable machine he owns.
The useful clue is in the same thread: during manual levelling one of the four corners — the top right, number 2 — kept resetting to 0–0.9 N no matter how many times he ran the routine. That is not a setting, that is a force sensor that isn't being read. While three corners converge and the fourth sits near zero, the machine recalculates the geometry differently on every job.
- Start with the panel, not the exposure: Tool → Screen exposure. Flicker, banding or dark patches mean the screen is the problem. One owner went back to that test after a run of failures and found heavy flicker he had missed the first time.
- Run manual levelling and watch the four numbers. If one corner stubbornly sits near zero while the other three converge, turning screws is pointless — the force sensor or its cable is dead.
- Pull the build plate, put it back, and wipe both the plate contact pad and the cantilever contacts with a lint-free cloth and alcohol. All four sensor readings travel through those contacts.
- Check the plate locking lever. Play out of the box is a known complaint, and a lever that isn't fully locked lets the plate seat slightly differently every time, which is exactly what makes calibration drift between jobs.
- Always print on a raft with supports. Printing directly on the plate does not work on the Jupiter 2 even for parts that were fine on a Saturn.
- Push bottom exposure to 40–55 seconds only as a temporary diagnostic to confirm adhesion is the issue, then bring it straight back down. If the printer starts rebooting on the first layer, see item 3 — anything over 30 seconds drops the machine.
2. Manual levelling with force sensors: how not to lose an evening to it
The Jupiter 2 has four independent force sensors, and they moved from the rail into the base of the build plate. The machine now reads real pressure at each corner instead of one averaged figure like earlier Jupiters. The price is a levelling routine that feels endless if you approach it wrong: turn one screw and the neighbouring corner and the diagonal both move.
- Go to Settings → Accessibility → Manual levelling. You need a 3.0 mm Allen key.
- Remove both build plate covers, lift the auto-feed nozzle and seal it with a bag and a cable tie — otherwise resin drips straight onto the LCD.
- Undo the two screw knobs and take the vat out.
- Tighten all four screws clockwise until they stop, tap Next and wait for the plate to come down.
- Adjust by the on-screen values: counter-clockwise raises the number, clockwise lowers it. Never touch the highest value, and always start with the corner diagonally opposite to it.
- Elegoo's target is less than 10 N between the highest and lowest of the four. Do not try to zero a corner in one go — with a large spread the neighbour and the diagonal follow it. Small increments only.
- Once the values converge, the plate cycles up and down a few times to let the rails settle. Retighten the screws after that cycle: this second pass is what actually closes the gap.
- Refit the screw caps. The routine is not considered complete without them.
For a sense of what a good result looks like: a reviewer who worked through the routine without rushing ended up with a maximum corner-to-corner deviation of 0.079 mm, measured with four 2 mm plates printed at the corners of the plate. That much is comfortably absorbed by supports.
3. The printer reboots on the first layer if bottom exposure is over 30 seconds
Self-check passes, the first layer starts curing, and two or three seconds in the printer restarts: Elegoo logo, self-check, main menu. An owner on r/ElegooJupiter found the pattern: it happens as soon as bottom exposure goes past 30 seconds. The same machine was throwing «Calibration fail» on four starts out of five.
The power supply is 24 V, 12.5 A, 300 W, and it feeds both the vat heater and the UV engine behind a 14-inch panel. Elegoo documents a separate fault with exactly the same symptom — a reboot when vat preheating is switched on — and blames a short in the tank wiring or on the heating wire adapter board. So it is worth attacking this from both ends, settings and electrics.
- Update the firmware — some of these reboots were addressed in 01.00.02.13 and 01.00.02.14.
- Drop bottom exposure to 25–30 seconds and run a short test print. If the reboots stop, this is a power problem, not a file problem.
- Insulate the heating contacts on the adapter board with tape or paper and try preheating. If that stops the reboots, jump to the vat heating section below for the full continuity test.
- Fix adhesion with levelling and a raft, not with a long burn: 50 seconds on a 16K panel is screen damage, plain and simple.
4. Thin parts printed on the plate come out squashed
An owner running two Jupiter 2 units described it precisely: a part that should be 2 mm tall prints at 1 mm — all the surface detail is there, the thickness is not. He tried shimming a screen protector between the plate and the LCD during levelling to buy the Z axis some headroom. The height came out right, but the long first layers still ate the fine detail.
The cause is structural. The Jupiter 2 plate sits on springs, as Elegoo's smaller machines do, only stiffer. While long bottom layers cure, the plate compresses and the first fractions of a millimetre disappear into flattened relief. A reviewer measured the same effect with 2 mm control plates at the corners: they came out short of their nominal height, which he called expected on a sprung plate.
- Print on a raft with supports rather than flat on the plate. On the Jupiter 2 this is not a preference, it is how you get the right thickness.
- Keep the number of bottom layers minimal — one or two is enough — instead of stacking more of them for adhesion.
- Do not shim anything between the plate and the panel during levelling. The routine works from force sensor readings, not from a feeler gauge, and an artificial gap breaks its logic.
- Verify thickness on a calibration plate with calipers, not on the part you actually need.
5. The raft tears in half mid-print
This one is easy to mistake for poor adhesion: the raft stays on the plate but splits down the middle and the job is scrap. A Jupiter 2 owner printing flexible resin hit it reliably on one specific part while everything else printed fine on the same machine and on a Mars 5 Ultra.
The thread that followed is worth reading in full. Bottom layers come out thicker than they should be and inconsistent, because of resin viscosity, frame flex and cross-sectional area — and most people compensate by burning them for far too long instead of letting the layer form properly. The second factor is lift height: the film peels from the edges toward the centre, and if the plate comes back down before the peel reaches the middle, the film stays stuck to the layer.
- Increase rest time before exposure — that is the single parameter that lets the layer form evenly. Rest before and after lift can drop to around 0.5 s.
- Cut the number of bottom layers instead of raising exposure: one or two bottom layers with a proper rest beat ten over-cured ones.
- If the split starts in the middle of a full plate, raise lift height — Jupiter 2 owners run 8–10 mm total.
- If it starts from the edge, it is peel behaviour: slow the lift down and break up large flat cross-sections by tilting the model.
Self-check and sensors: what each error actually means
Every power-up runs a nine-point device self-check that takes about a minute. Three of its items account for the bulk of support tickets.
6. «Mechanical Sensor Status»: the self-check can't see the plate
This one usually shows up on day one. An owner coming from a Saturn 4 Ultra 16K hit it right after setup: «It's the first time I've had a new printer and I can't even use it on the first day.» Elegoo's list of causes is long: plate not installed, latch not locked, dirty contacts, a loose force sensor plug or adapter cable, a failed magnetic connector or force sensor adapter board.
- Lower the auto-feed nozzle all the way into its working position. A lifted nozzle reads as a mechanical fault — that alone fixed it for one owner on day one.
- Release the latch, take the plate off and refit it, making sure it lines up with the contacts and the latch clicks home. That was all a second owner needed.
- Power the machine down and wipe the plate and cantilever contacts with alcohol and a lint-free cloth.
- Still failing: open the plate housing — pry the silicone plug with tweezers, remove the two screws with a 3.0 mm Allen key and open the housing slowly (there are wires inside, don't pull).
- Pull the PCB out by the board, not the wires, hold the plate up, connect the magnetic terminals to the cantilever contacts by hand and watch the adapter board indicator. Blinking means the link is good — go run the self-check.
- No blink: reseat the force sensor plugs strictly by their labels — 1, 2, 3, 4 into sockets A, B, C, D in order. After that the magnetic connector, adapter cable and adapter board are the replacement path.
7. «Resin Tank Status»: the printer can't see the vat, and the magnet may be missing
The screen shows «Equipment malfunction please troubleshoot» and the self-check stops on the tank item. The Jupiter 2 detects the vat with a Hall sensor: there is a magnet inside the tank, and the sensor lives inside the auto-feed assembly. An owner on r/elegoo got this error on a brand new machine and, after stripping the vat, found no magnet in it at all — he measured the pocket at 9 × 4 × 3 mm, and the standard neodymium magnet for it is 8 × 4 × 2 mm.
- Lower the auto-feed assembly into its working position. If it is already down, lift and lower it a few times and re-run the self-check.
- Turn off resin recycling via Settings → Accessibility → Resin recycling, lift the feed assembly and place a magnet on its upper centre. The sensor will not see the magnet anywhere else — miss this and you will wrongly conclude the sensor is dead.
- Remove the magnet immediately and re-run the self-check. Error still there: the Hall sensor needs replacing, it sits inside the feed assembly.
- Error gone: the problem is in the tank. If you have a second vat, swap it in to confirm.
- Getting to the magnet means stripping the vat: lift the feed assembly and seal its outlet with a bag and cable tie, undo the two screw knobs and remove the tank, pull off the side handles, release the front, side and top buckles, remove the release film assembly, then undo the three baffle screws with a 2.5 mm Allen key.
- No magnet: fit an 8 × 4 × 2 mm neodymium magnet. Magnet present but the error persists: replace it, magnetic strength drops over time.
8. «Auto-leveling failed» before every print
You hit Print and the screen says «Auto-leveling failed. Please troubleshoot.» Elegoo lists three causes: incomplete or unstable calibration data, a shift in plate or sensor reference after shipping, and a one-off measurement deviation from vibration or ambient conditions. The warning often doesn't stop the print at all — the official workaround is literally called «Mandatory Printing».
- Update to 01.00.02.14 or newer. «Optimized the automatic leveling logic» is the first line in that release's changelog, and owners confirm the nagging warning goes away.
- Re-run manual levelling, two or three times in a row if needed. The system sometimes needs several passes before the calibration data settles.
- If the warning stays and you need the print now, tap Mandatory Printing — the job usually completes normally.
- If the printer doesn't just complain but freezes and reboots during auto-levelling, that's a defect. Export the log through Settings → App Settings → Export log and open a ticket.
9. Freeze and reboot during auto-levelling itself
Worth separating from the previous item: there the printer complains and prints, here it hangs. An owner on r/elegoo described it on a new machine — the plate goes down, auto-levelling starts, everything freezes and reboots. The file was only 100 MB, and disabling anti-aliasing and image blur made no difference. A second person in the same thread waited several minutes for an auto-levelling error and never managed to print at all.
- Check the firmware version: «fixed printer being stuck during file transfer» is the second line in the 01.00.02.14 changelog.
- Try printing from a USB drive rather than over the network — that separates a transfer problem from a mechanical one.
- An Elegoo staffer in that thread asked for three things: whether the freeze happens every time or randomly, the sliced file itself for reproduction, and the machine log after a restart. Have them ready and you skip a week of back-and-forth.
- Check that the printer itself sits level and stable — on a wobbly or uneven bench the four force sensor readings wander.
The resin pump: the feature that causes the most expensive accidents
A bidirectional pump with a 2 kg bottle at the back is the Jupiter 2's headline feature and the source of its worst failures. Top-up triggers when less than 250 ml is left in the vat and only runs during a print; reclaim only runs when the printer is idle. The caddy takes rectangular bottles — the usual cylindrical ones do not fit.
10. The pump dumps resin on the floor — the costliest Jupiter 2 failure
An owner on r/resinprinting described the scenario several people have now repeated: filled the bottle, started a print, went out to run errands, came back to find every drop of resin across the table and the floor because the hose had come loose from the pump. He cleaned it all up, fitted proper clamps to every hose, tried again — and got exactly the same result.
FauxHammer hit the same failure differently: on his unit the hose detached inside the pump during nothing more dramatic than a bottle cap change, and it took disassembly to put it back. Uncle Jessy pinned down the mechanism — the pump tube is too short and pops off — and said Elegoo intended to fix it before shipping. On a Czech owner's machine the inlet-to-pump connector simply snapped after a single transfer cycle: «the wall thickness of that part is really small».
- Power the printer off and lift the side cover of the auto-feed box.
- Remove the three pump cover screws with a Phillips screwdriver. The right tube causes leaks inside the box; the left one causes no-feed.
- Push the loose tube fully back into its original port.
- Swap the stock spring clips for proper worm-drive clamps — that is what owners who were flooded twice ended up doing.
- Check that the transfer nozzle is actually lowered into the vat rather than parked over the chassis. One owner spilled resin behind the machine purely because he forgot to fold the nozzle back down, and said so publicly.
- If you don't trust the system, disable it in Settings → Accessibility and fill the vat by hand — but read item 15 first, you can't get rid of it entirely.
11. The pump runs but no resin reaches the vat
The print starts, you can hear the pump working, and the level in the vat doesn't move. Elegoo names two causes: a loose cap on the auto-feed cartridge or a loose pump tube. The only tool you need is a Phillips screwdriver.
- Tighten the auto-feed cartridge cap and make sure the buckle is fully seated.
- Power the machine off, lift the side cover and remove the pump cover (three screws).
- Check the left-hand tube: if it is loose, push it fully back into place.
- Confirm auto-feeding is actually enabled in Settings → Accessibility, and that the module cable is connected — a loose plug shows up as an exclamation mark on the self-check page.
12. The feed hose blocks solid with cured resin
A nastier case that is worth telling apart from a loose tube. An owner on r/elegoo documented it in August 2026: resin started leaking from the rear feed unit, Elegoo support called it user error, so he took it apart himself. With the external hose disconnected the pump delivers normally; reconnect it and pressure builds until resin forces its way out inside the box. Soaking in IPA and syringing it through in both directions did nothing, and 1.75 mm filament goes about 2 cm into the hose before hitting something solid.
- The diagnostic is simple: disconnect the external hose and run the feed. If the pump delivers, the blockage is in the hose, not the pump.
- Flush the hose with IPA using a syringe in both directions. If it won't clear, replace the hose — cured resin does not come out of it.
- Don't leave resin sitting in the system for weeks. The official flush (300–400 ml of IPA, several «start print → wait for feed → cancel → Recycle Resin» cycles, then a final dry run of the pump) costs a lot less than a new hose.
- The hose is only ever flushed while a print runs with auto-feeding on. If you have been filling the vat by hand for months, it has been sitting full of residue that whole time.
13. «Resin bottle empty» on a full bottle, and overfilling past MAX
Elegoo documented five level-sensor faults in the official FAQ, and four of them share an unexpected cause: «the system may not support the resin being used». Some formulations simply don't register on the probes.

14. Reclaim doesn't drain the vat dry
Reviewers quote different times: Tom's Hardware says five minutes for a full vat, another reviewer measured seven. They agree on the outcome — the pump never gets it dry. Cameron Coward at Hackster puts it plainly: «You'll need to tilt the printer back so the resin pools around the hose, or use a scraper to push the excess resin into that area. Even then, there will be some left in the vat that you'll need to wipe up.»
- Before reclaiming, undo the vat screw knobs and slide one under the front corner of the tank so the remainder runs toward the nozzle. That is Elegoo's own tip and it genuinely works.
- Budget 5–7 minutes and finish the job with a rubber spatula: by one reviewer's estimate, a couple of dozen millilitres are left behind.
- Remember some resin stays in the hose. Going from black to white you will notice it; swapping between shades of the same colour you won't.
- Reclaim only works when the printer is idle, and it lives in a non-obvious place — Settings → Accessibility. Plenty of owners never find the function at all.
15. A disabled pump still demands confirmation on every job
Every reviewer flagged this one. FauxHammer: «The Elegoo Jupiter 2 then throws up a warning at the start of every print saying the pump is disabled, and insists on manual confirmation via the touchscreen. Worse, if the unused nozzle isn't positioned correctly, the printer may refuse to start at all.» CGMagazine adds that at the time of writing there was no way to turn the warning off.
One owner framed it in the most human way possible: «Please, if I have auto refill turned off, don't make me walk down to the basement to force a print after slicing and sending to the machine.» Someone who tested the unit pre-release replied that the request had gone to R&D. Fabbaloo ran into the same logic from another angle: when the feeder reported an empty bottle mid-print, the only two options were Cancel Print and Mandatory Printing.
- Keep the transfer nozzle lowered into its working position even with auto-feeding off, or the print will not start at all.
- Send the file ahead of time and start the print physically at the machine: remote starts still hit the confirmation dialog.
- It is genuinely easier to use the pump as intended — then no extra dialog appears and the vat tops itself up below 250 ml.
16. Colour contamination when switching resins
A pump system means that when you change materials, it isn't just the vat that's dirty — the hose and pump body are too. Elegoo documents two official flush methods, and both cost you material.
- Clean residual resin out of the feed tank and vat with IPA and let both air dry completely.
- Method one, flush with new resin: pour 300–400 ml of the new material into the feed tank, start a print job, wait for the resin to load into the vat, cancel before the LCD starts exposing, then tap Recycle Resin. Repeat the cycle several times. The resin used for flushing is still printable on another machine.
- Method two, flush with IPA: pour 300–400 ml of IPA into the feed tank and run the same cycle several times, then pour the IPA out.
- After an IPA flush, run the pump once more with the tank empty so the remaining alcohol evaporates before you load resin.
- The cheap way to skip all of this: the box includes a second empty 2 liter bottle with its own tube and fitting — dedicate it to your second material.
Vat heating: the headline feature and a separate source of faults
17. The printer reboots when you switch on resin preheating
The symptom is unambiguous: the vat is installed correctly, you enable resin preheating on the screen, and the machine restarts immediately. Elegoo gave this its own knowledge base page and lists four causes: a short in the tank's internal wiring, a short on the heating wire adapter board, the tank's metal contacts shorting to its housing, and an abnormal short on the board's 24 V or GND lines.
- Temporarily insulate the heating contacts on the adapter board with tape or white paper, refit the tank and enable resin preheating. Reboots stop — there is a short, keep going. Reboots continue — this isn't the heater, contact support.
- Remove the tank and test it with a multimeter in continuity mode. Normal: the two tank contacts beep between themselves, and neither beeps against the tank housing.
- A beep between any contact and the housing means a short inside the tank, and the tank gets replaced as a unit.
- Test the heating wire adapter board. Normal: the two heating contacts are open, 24 V to 24 V beeps, GND to GND beeps. Anything else means the board needs replacing.
- Elegoo rates the board swap at about ten minutes, but it means removing the left and right panels (five screws each), the rear panel (eight screws), disconnecting the mains terminal block and laying the printer on its side.
18. Vat temperature is not adjustable, and the tank wall passes 60 °C while preheating
Elegoo's specification and Fabbaloo both put the heated vat at 30 °C. FauxHammer measured a fixed 25 °C on a pre-production unit. The discrepancy is interesting, but what matters to an owner is the shared part: the value is baked in and you cannot change it. CGMagazine: «This feels like a software issue, with the heater being able to adjust, but as it stands now, it heats to the predetermined temperature with no way to change it. For around 90 percent of people this should be fine, but with some more obscure resins, you may need to adjust this.»
- Don't grab the vat wall during preheating — measurements put it above 60 °C before it settles back down.
- Enable preheating (Settings → Accessibility) and let it finish: the cycle stirs the resin with the plate periodically, and it genuinely evens out viscosity.
- Don't try to bend thick engineering resins around a fixed temperature — pick medium-viscosity materials instead.
- Watch resin and UV engine temperature straight from the print screen; both are displayed as standard. Above 80 °C on the light engine the machine pauses the print by itself.
Screen, light engine and electrics
19. No exposure: empty plate and a blank screen test
Elegoo's own description of the symptom: after a print completes there is no cured resin on the plate or in the vat, and a standalone LCD exposure test displays no pattern at all. This is a different failure from «nothing sticks» — there the panel works, here it doesn't.
- Power cycle the printer and run Tool → Screen exposure.
- Restore factory settings via Settings → App Settings → Restore Settings to Factory Version and retest.
- Update the firmware through Settings → Version Upgrade → Check for updates, power cycle and test exposure again.
- Still nothing: unplug the machine, remove the five right side panel screws with a 2.0 mm Allen key, peel the tape off the LCD ribbon cable, release the latch and reseat it. The white line faces up and the cable stays parallel to the latch.
- Next, the LCD side: lift the auto-feed nozzle and seal it with a bag and cable tie, undo the two screw knobs and remove the vat, peel the PET insulating film along the edge, remove the ten LCD screws and gently lift the panel from the top left corner. Reseat the ribbon on the LCD side by the same rules.
- For a support ticket, prepare in advance: a photo of the LCD not exposing, one during exposure, photos of both ends of the ribbon cable, your order number (or invoice if you bought from a distributor) and a photo of the QR code on the LCD side.
20. Dead screen zones and bubbles under the protective film out of the box
An owner on r/elegoo found half his panel wasn't curing from the very first job: he ran Cones of Calibration, got an empty plate, felt an inch-wide strip of cured resin running the full depth of the screen on the film, and the exposure test showed something that was clearly not the grid pattern.
A separate story is bubbling under the screen protector. One owner had it running from the centre to the right edge and support told him to reapply it himself. Another person in the same thread pulled the whole thing off, mistaking it for shipping film: «It would have been nice to have some information in the manual.» There is in fact no unboxing guide in the box at all.
- Run the exposure test on day one, before you pour any resin. Removing the vat and looking at the pattern takes a minute, and it catches factory defects while the machine can still be swapped.
- The shipping film comes off the panel; the screen protector stays on. If you aren't sure which is which, photograph it and ask support before you pull.
- Bubbles under the protector barely affect printing, but send support a photo anyway and get the factory defect on record.
- Found a dead zone? Don't pour resin, ask for a replacement — once the vat is filled the exchange turns into an email thread.
21. The printer won't power on, or the screen stays black
Elegoo's procedure here is genuinely good and worth keeping to hand: it walks from the plug to the power supply and lets you name a specific part to support instead of «it doesn't turn on».
- Check the plug and that the cable is fully seated. Obvious, but it is where Elegoo starts too.
- Look at the power switch indicator. Not lit: slide the latch in the direction of the arrow, pull the fuse and inspect it. The Jupiter 2 spec is 10 A 250 V, 5 × 20 mm — any hardware store carries it.
- Indicator lit: unplug, remove the five right side panel screws with a 2.0 mm Allen key and check the three mainboard LEDs after powering up.
- All three lit: the touchscreen ribbon cable is the suspect. Peel the tape at both ends and reseat it — blue side up, straight into the connector, roughly 4.6 mm of blue showing.
- None lit: power off and check the mainboard power terminal.
- Remove the left panel, tighten the wire terminal screws with a Phillips driver and measure the power supply output in DC mode. Around 24 V present: the mainboard or screen is the problem. No output and the PSU indicator is dark: it's the power supply.
22. Exposure changes mid-print — and it destroys the film
One of the ugliest findings from the early batches, reported independently by two owners. The first: «Midway through my print it switched from the 3.2 seconds per layer, back to the 40 seconds I had set for base layers, taking my print from 15 hours to randomly taking 40+ to print an 8-to-10-inch tall Link.» The second: «I had the same issue. It stopped doing 2.5 second normal layer exposures and instead did 30 second base layer exposures. It totally destroyed the FEP and damage onto the screen protector of the LCD.»
- Check on long prints during the first few hours using the main screen — live exposure parameters and remaining time are right there.
- The moment normal layer exposure matches the bottom layer value, stop the print. Every extra layer heats the film and the panel.
- Immediately after stopping, run Tool → Tank cleaning: the routine gathers loose cured resin into one sheet you can lift out whole.
- Take the vat out and hold the film up to the light. Cloudy patches or burn marks mean it needs replacing before anything else prints.
- Check the panel with an exposure test: dark patches or flicker over the pattern mean the LCD itself took the damage.
- Keep a spare film on hand. Only one ships with the machine, and the frame format has made fast replacements hard to source.
Mechanics and chassis
23. The Z axis knocks, judders or stalls
Elegoo lists five causes: cured resin on the motor base or in the motion assembly, missing or contaminated grease on the rail and lead screw, a faulty anti-backlash nut, an improperly installed motor, and a motor or mainboard failure. The key warning is blunt: if resin has entered the mechanism and already cured so it cannot be removed, the Z-axis lead screw motor is replaced as a unit.
- Unplug the printer and inspect the lead screw, rail, anti-backlash nut and motor base for resin.
- Wipe liquid resin off with alcohol. Cured resin that won't come off is a death sentence for the lead screw motor — it gets replaced whole.
- Remove the old grease completely, apply fresh lubricant evenly, then move the mechanism by hand and confirm it travels smoothly.
- Remove the anti-backlash nut and drive the axis through Tool → Manual: set a movement distance and jog the plate up and down. If the motor now behaves, replace the nut.
- Still wrong: refit the Z motor with no mechanical stress or misalignment and all mounting screws properly tightened.
- Last step: remove the right side panel with a 2.0 mm Allen key (five screws) and check the motor cable and connector for looseness, bends or damage.
24. Loud peel thumps shake the whole machine
An owner on r/elegoo: «The noise it makes when I lift this layer after printing is shaking the whole machine so much it's almost knocking on my downstairs neighbour's door. My 500×500×500 FDM printer is running right next to it and it doesn't make this much noise. I'm afraid it will tear the FEP film.» The fear is justified, and the physics is straightforward: the larger the contact area, the easier it is to tear the film at speed, after which resin seeps under it, cures there and gets pressed down by the plate on subsequent layers. Enough flex and the glass can crack the panel.
- Slow the lift down — on a large cross-section that is the main lever. Jupiter 2 owners quote 45 on the first lift stage and 225 on the second (the original posts don't state units, so check against your own profile).
- Raise total lift height to 8–10 mm so the film finishes peeling before the plate comes back down.
- Add rest time before exposure: it cuts both the thump and the thickness of the bottom layers.
- Break up large flat cross-sections by tilting the model. The thump scales with the area being peeled per layer, not with how many parts are on the plate.
- Check that the printer sits on a level, solid surface — 28.9 kg on a wobbly bench resonates noticeably harder.
25. The advertised 300 mm is real, but you can't get the print out
The most discussed design oddity on this machine. FauxHammer: «The machine can technically print to full height, but real-world removal of those max-height prints may be a nightmare» — there isn't enough extra upward travel to clear the vat. The suggested workarounds finished him off: have two people, one holding the vat while the other removes the plate, or simply don't print to full height. His verdict: «In that case, don't advertise 300mm. Limit it in software to the height that can actually be used sensibly, somewhere around the 265mm to 278mm region, and state that honestly.»
A reviewer who actually printed a tower at exactly 300 mm confirmed it down to the millimetre: the top of the model ends up a few millimetres clear of the resin surface with a couple of centimetres still to the top edge of the vat, so sliding the plate out with a heavy part on it is simply impossible — the spire was already touching the wall when the rail ran out. The same review found the workaround that doesn't require a second person.
- The practical ceiling for stress-free work is around 265–278 mm. Beyond that, removal becomes a circus act.
- If you did print to full height, don't fight the plate: undo the vat screw knobs and lift the plate out together with the vat.
- Fit the drip tray around the vat before removal — it ships in a separate long box and is easy to miss in the packaging.
- Bear in mind a ~300 mm part won't fit a standard wash station either: reviewers rinsed in two passes, flipping the model end for end.
- Some height also goes to the plate itself, which owners specifically complained is too thick.
26. Two swing-out doors eat up to a metre of bench
Elegoo's official FAQ answer: with the doors fully open the minimum space required is 1150 × 670 × 660 mm, and the company explicitly discourages opening them partially. Tom's Hardware measured 1054.1 mm across. FauxHammer adds the worst part: during the arc of opening the outer corners need closer to 111 cm — on a machine only 46.5 cm wide.
- Give the machine its own bench or the end position on a shelf: 1.15 m of width is the official requirement, not a safety margin.
- If space is tight, take the doors off: four Phillips screws per door, supporting it as you undo the last one. When refitting, check the top and bottom edges line up.
- Keep the auto-feed box strictly at the rear — on the side it ends up in the path of the doors, as CGMagazine specifically warns.
- Watch the hinges: Tom's Hardware saw a door go visibly lopsided in three days at Rapid TCT with show visitors opening it.
27. Power switch, socket and resin bottle all live at the back
FauxHammer lists them one by one: power socket at the back, rocker switch at the back, extraction plate at the back, and the pump bottle setup at the back too. «If you want to power it on, you're reaching around the rear of a large, heavy printer. If the machine crashes and needs power-cycling, same story.» Given that freezes and reboots appear in six separate items in this article, you will be reaching around it regularly.
- Position the printer so you can reach the back panel, and run power to a switched socket in front of it — that removes half the annoyance.
- Stop prints with Tool → Emergency stop rather than pulling power: the Jupiter 2 does have power loss recovery, but you don't want to test it on a long job.
- Photograph the serial number from the white label to the left of the power switch now — support asks for it on every ticket.
- The rear exhaust port is 75 mm and takes an external extraction hose. That said, there are openings in the rear chassis where vapours escape, so the «enclosed» part is relative.
28. The vat is shallow and the pour spout dribbles
FauxHammer: «Yes, there is a pour spout. No, it doesn't project far enough to stop resin dribbling down the outside and underneath the vat. Tilt the vat one way and it runs down the side. Tilt it too far the other and resin can flow over the edge.» The vat is also fairly shallow for a machine this size — roughly one bottle of resin before you hit the max line. CGMagazine confirms it: on larger prints you have to top up.
- Drain with the reclaim function rather than through the spout — that is what the pump exists for.
- Run long prints with auto-feeding enabled: by hand you will be topping the vat up mid-job.
- Slide the supplied drip tray under the vat before removing anything.
- The vat mounts on two screw knobs rather than tool-free clamps — Tom's Hardware listed «outdated vat bolts» directly among the cons.
29. «Ten-second film change» only applies to the pre-framed kit
Fast film swaps are a legitimate reason to be pleased, and Tom's Hardware is enthusiastic: «no more broken bolts or lost bolts». The enthusiasm lasts right up until you want to put film into an existing frame. FauxHammer clarifies: the latches clamp the frame to the vat, but replacing the film itself still means undoing all the screws in the frame by hand.
The full official procedure: remove the vat handles, release the front, side and top buckles, undo four positioning screws with a 3.0 mm Allen key, then undo twenty-eight pressing plate screws with a 2.0 mm Allen key. Tension comes from an 80 × 80 × 5 mm piece of foam placed under the centre of the plate, and the excess film is trimmed around the edge with a utility knife.
Elegoo's official position on standalone films: «Considering the convenience of replacement and product quality consistency, we have not yet launched a standalone release film for the J2. However, to provide users with more cost-effective options, we are currently validating a non-metal frame design that offers a more competitive price.» In April 2026 owners reported one film in the box, none in stock on the site and a six-week estimated lead time. For a rough sense of service life, one owner counted about 50,000 releases in total, 40,000 of them on the previous film.
Firmware, network and the app
30. Files over 2 GB used to hang the printer — and where that stands now
The loudest story of the first weeks. Elegoo support's answer to an owner, verbatim: «Regarding the file size limitation you mentioned, we would like to clarify that for current production machines, we do recommend keeping print files under 2GB. This is mainly because very large files (around or above 2GB) may fully occupy the machine's memory, which could lead to issues such as the printer becoming unresponsive or entering a standby state during operation. That said, our R&D team is actively working on optimizing this limitation. Once improvements are ready, they will be released through a future OTA firmware update.»
The M&M's Prop Shop channel argued the cause is the board itself: «It's an insufficient mainboard that's causing the freezing on larger files», and not fixable in firmware. The community consensus settled on a 32-bit Chitu board with roughly 2 GB of addressable memory. The practical sting: any file with anti-aliasing that fills a decent share of a 14.6-litre volume sails past 2 GB without trying.
- Update to at least 01.00.02.13: before it the ceiling is 2 GB, after it 3.5 GB.
- Load 3MF into the slicer instead of STL — the geometry is smaller and the resulting sliced file lighter.
- Set anti-aliasing and greyscale to 4 rather than 8: owners report that almost always drops the file below 2 GB, and a fully loaded plate lands at 150–300 MB.
- On a 16K panel you often don't need anti-aliasing at all — a 20 × 26 μm pixel is already finer than the eye resolves. One owner got a clean result specifically after turning it off.
- Before a long job, just look at the saved file size in your file manager. More reliable than trusting the slicer.
31. Firmware 01.00.02.13 sent machines into an endless reboot loop
After the update some machines dropped into an infinite cycle — self-check, lock up, reboot, repeat — with no time to reach the menu. Elegoo wrote to an affected owner: «It has now been confirmed as a firmware bug. A new firmware update will be released as soon as the bug is located. Until then, you can ignore the firmware update notification.» Ignoring it is easier said than done: once the printer has seen a new version, it offers it at every start.
- Don't update «just because». Do it when the printer is free and a USB drive with a working version is sitting next to it.
- If you're stuck in the loop, leave the machine powered on for 45–60 minutes and don't touch it. For several owners the cycle stopped on its own — one left for work and came back to a booted printer.
- The moment you get a menu, switch Wi-Fi off, or the printer will offer the update again.
- Format the USB drive as FAT32 with a 4096-byte allocation unit and put the firmware file in the root. Then Settings → Version Upgrade → Local upgrade.
- Export the log via Settings → App Settings → Export log — that is what support asks for, and it is exactly what got Elegoo to confirm the firmware bug.
32. Firmware isn't published anywhere — plan for that
This deserves its own entry because it turns every other firmware problem into a bigger one. Owners hunting for a rollback after the 01.00.02.13 loop found nothing on the Elegoo support site and nothing on the wiki — «The links here were all sent from Elegoo support. They don't post them online at this point.» If your only route back to a working version is a support ticket, a bad update means days of downtime instead of ten minutes with a USB drive.
- Request the firmware file from Elegoo support at 3dp@elegoo.com, quoting the model and the serial number from the white label to the left of the power switch.
- Format a USB drive as FAT32 with a 4096-byte allocation unit and put the firmware file in the root of the drive.
- On the screen: Settings → Version Upgrade → Local upgrade, confirm the version information and proceed.
- Wait for the automatic reboot and self-check, then verify in Device Info that the version number actually changed.
- Archive that file. OTA updates are convenient right up until the moment you need to go backwards.
33. Matrix app: no QR code, and account linking triggers a boot loop
At launch the manual told you to scan a QR code in Device Info, and there was no QR code there. Owners posted about it through April and May: «Support said to scan the QR Code in device info. There is no QR code in device info», and «even with the latest update it won't work, says the binding code is invalid». Linking only started working with firmware 01.00.02.14, which is when the QR code appears in the menu.
For those who did get through the linking, a different defect appeared. An owner on 01.00.02.13: «Upon account linking with Elegoo Matrix App, front display starts a horrible reset looping. The only way to skip the boot loop is turning off home/hotspot wifi. And since you can't remove saved wifi networks, you have to factory reset the printer to network connect again.» On 01.00.02.14 the loop shrank to three or four reboots on Wi-Fi connection, after which the machine ran fine but offline.
- Update to 01.00.02.14 or newer — that's when the QR code shows up in Device Info.
- Update the Matrix app itself to at least version 1.1.2, as required by the first item in the 01.00.02.13 changelog.
- Open your Matrix profile and make sure the account has a username set.
- If you land in a reboot loop, switch off your router Wi-Fi or phone hotspot — the printer boots normally without a network.
- There is no supported way to remove a saved network; the only route is Settings → App Settings → Restore Settings to Factory Version.
34. Wi-Fi drops and never reconnects on its own
An owner who otherwise left a positive review still noted: «My Jupiter 2 constantly disconnects from the wifi and doesn't try to reconnect. I have to go up to the machine and click the wifi network again and it connects without issue, so I have no idea why it gets disconnected to begin with.» A related defect — the SatelLite network freezing when connected to the app — was closed as item four of firmware 01.00.02.13.
- Update to the latest firmware: some of the network hangs were fixed in 01.00.02.13 and 01.00.02.14.
- Keep the printer on 2.4 GHz and turn off band steering on the router if both bands share one SSID.
- Don't rely on the network for long jobs: push the file to onboard storage in advance or print from USB.
- If it drops constantly and firmware doesn't help, pull the right side panel (five screws, 2.0 mm Allen key) and reseat the Wi-Fi module connector — Elegoo publishes separate guides for replacing both the module and the antenna.
35. The camera shows nothing, or shows mush
There are three separate camera stories and it helps to keep them apart. First, it shows nothing at all: Fabbaloo clicked the camera icon under real-time monitoring and got a connection timeout, while print status through Operation → View worked fine; the live feed only appeared on their fourth print. Second, quality: 1280 × 720 on paper, but a poor bitrate leaves the image rough, and CGMagazine calls it distorted when watching remotely. Third, placement: Tom's Hardware notes the camera sits too high — «It's hard to see what, if anything, is printing for the first 100mm.»
- Turn the printer off at the switch, wait until the screen is completely dark, and turn it back on — that is step one of the official procedure.
- Make sure printer and computer are on the same network: monitoring through SatelLite only works on the local network.
- Still nothing: unplug the machine, remove the right side panel (five screws, 2.0 mm Allen key) and reseat the camera module connector.
- For a support ticket you will need the firmware version, the serial number and a video of the symptom.
- You will not be able to watch the first 100 mm of a print — that's a design limitation, not a fault. The internal light is white rather than UV: FauxHammer checked it with a UV meter and it does not cure resin.

The SatelLite slicer and file handling
36. Where third-party slicers and UVtools stand today
At launch the Jupiter 2 spoke only to Elegoo's own SatelLite, and some buyers cancelled their pre-orders over it. The official line in the knowledge base: «The ELEGOO Jupiter 2 currently supports only ELEGOO SatelLite. We plan to add compatibility with additional slicers, including Lychee Slicer and Chitubox, in a future update.» The .ctb format isn't supported at all — the machine works with .goo. Over the summer the picture changed considerably.

- Need network sending? Stay in SatelLite — for now it is the only place that has it.
- Want a familiar interface? Prepare and slice in ChituBox or Lychee and carry the file on a USB drive.
- Need a free slicer on Linux? DragonFruit: there is no Linux build of SatelLite, which left Ubuntu owners with nothing official. The project is active — the latest dev builds are dated late August 2026.
- Losing UVtools genuinely hurts: the usual way to fix islands and edit individual layers is unavailable on the Jupiter 2 for now.
- Elegoo officially allows Jupiter SE profiles as a starting point, but you must recalibrate exposure. A telling data point: Sunlu ABS-Like needs 1.7 s on an Anycubic M7 Max and 2.7 s on the Jupiter 2.
37. SatelLite silently ignores changed resin settings
An owner on r/elegoo documented it best: he changed bottom and transition layer counts and normal exposure across three different files and every single time got the same 2 h 54 min at 20 μm with ten bottom layers he never asked for. Worse, the saved file reported 49 minutes in its own info panel and then reverted to 2 h 54 min on the printer.
Part of the cause is an unintuitive interface. Fabbaloo worked it out: resin print settings cannot be edited in the Project bar under the Prepare tab at all — the editable fields only show up in the same bar under Preview once the file is sliced — and layer thickness lives exclusively in the resin profile, reached through Start → Device → Printer → Resin. Cameron Coward at Hackster adds that resin parameters are edited via Home → Personal Library, that the process is convoluted, «and sometimes didn't seem to update properly for me».
- Stop editing on the fly. Build your own resin profile: Home → Personal Library, create an entry and put exposure, bottom layer count and speeds into it.
- Change layer height only inside the resin profile — it is not editable from the Project bar.
- After slicing, open the Preview tab and visually confirm bottom layer count and exposure match what you set.
- Before starting, open the print parameters on the printer itself: some values (bottom layer count, exposure) can be corrected on screen.
- Don't trust the time estimate. Every reviewer saw actual times run 10–30 % over, and on Fabbaloo's longest job a 26 h 55 min estimate first became 9 h 55 min and then took 30 h 22 min in reality.
38. SatelLite takes thirty minutes where ChituBox takes three
Complaints about slicing speed have run all summer. An owner on a Threadripper 3960X with 128 GB of RAM and an RTX 3080: «SatelLite is taking 5+ minutes just to calculate cavities or collisions. Slicing is even worse — I just waited 30 minutes for SatelLite to slice a model that Chitubox handled in 3 minutes.» A second person in the same thread added another 30–50 minutes to transfer the file to the printer, and noted it had all worked fine before an update.
- Reinstall SatelLite from scratch — for some owners that was the only thing that cleared the slowdown after an update.
- Prepare the model (supports, hollowing, drain holes) in your usual slicer, export STL and slice in SatelLite. Tom's Hardware and plenty of ChituBox and Lychee refugees do exactly this.
- Turn anti-aliasing off: it inflates both slicing time and file size.
- Since July 2026 ChituBox and DragonFruit are options, and since August the Lychee beta — if you don't need network sending, slicing there is simply faster.
39. The resin calibration mode promised in the manual doesn't exist
Both the printed and digital manuals describe a resin calibration function. It is not in the printer's menu — confirmed independently by Fabbaloo and by owners. Someone who tested the machine pre-release explained: «The manual is incorrect. ELEGOO have said they are exploring adding the multi-calibration option to SatelLite instead of on a machine but this may or may not happen.» Elegoo's smaller models, the Mars 5 and Saturn 4 Ultra, have an on-machine multi-exposure test; the flagship lost it.
- Calibrate exposure by printing test models: Cones of Calibration V3 and Ameralabs Town are what reviewers and the community use.
- Judge the result after washing and drying but before final UV curing, otherwise the dimensions shift and your conclusion is wrong.
- Practical reference points: on Cones of Calibration the sword should fit the skull but not the failure holes, and the ale should seat in the mug. On a real machine 2.3 s and 2.7 s both passed the sword, 3.2 s did not, and the correct value sat between 2.7 and 3.2 s.
- A second data point: a reviewer using the stock profile got under-curing at 2.5 s and a clean result at 2.8 s.
- Turn anti-aliasing off while calibrating — it smears the picture and makes the exposure point harder to find.
40. Circles print as ellipses and parts don't fit together
An owner with eight years of resin printing behind him hit axis distortion: round holes came out oval and mating parts wouldn't seat. He checked the device profile, the pixel size and the sliced file itself, and every number was correct. That makes sense: the Jupiter 2 has a rectangular 20 × 26 μm pixel, so X and Y resolutions differ and a wrong profile produces an ellipse rather than uniform shrinkage.
- Delete the printer from the SatelLite device list and add it back — adding it pulls a fresh profile with the correct pixel size. That is what fixed it for him, and the slicer explicitly told him the profiles had been updated.
- Attach an official resin profile through Cloud Import → Official resin library rather than guessing at exposure: for him it cut nearly a second and removed the over-curing.
- Lower exposure: over-curing on a rectangular pixel inflates the part more along one axis than the other.
- Verify by printing a 10 × 10 mm calibration cube and measuring both axes with calipers.
41. A 0.05 mm layer takes ten times the estimate
An owner whose 0.03 mm prints were fine wrote: «Everything I print at 0.05 ends up taking 10x more than planned and the parts are very over exposed.» The explanation ties back to the previous item: in SatelLite layer height is changed only by editing the resin profile, and some exposure values do not get recalculated automatically. A profile dialled in at 0.03 mm carried across to 0.05 mm gives you double the cure.
- Keep a separate resin profile for each layer height, each with its own exposure.
- Re-verify exposure with a test print after changing layer height rather than carrying values over.
- Compare estimated and actual time on a short test before committing to a long one. For scale: a 30 μm job of 8,000 layers runs about 55 hours.
42. Auto supports: either a forest, or lonely sticks that snap
Opinions genuinely diverge here, which is telling in itself. Fabbaloo: «We found auto supports to be massive overkill at times with their density, yet underwhelming with failure prone single bar support structures that stretched way too far.» Their large Xeno Trophy Head print used 783 g of resin, ran 29 h 35 min and failed with layer separation, and the supports «moved easily when prodded with a finger». Hackster, by contrast, calls the automatic supports «surprisingly good» with «tons of customization», though not quite Lychee level.
- On models above 100 mm switch to SatelLite's «Evo 100+mm» auto support profile — that is what fixed missing sections of large prints for one owner.
- For big models increase rest time before exposure and lift height: owners quote 8–10 mm of combined lift and roughly a 1 s delay.
- Generate supports in Lychee or ChituBox and import the prepared STL into SatelLite — the workaround reviewers use too.
- Inspect supports on flat areas: if the struts are sparse and reach a long way, add more by hand.
43. The USB drive isn't read, the file doesn't appear, printing stops on a file error
A cluster of small but infuriating failures. A Czech owner: «The printer is unable to read any USB flash drive other than the one included. Additionally, when I set up the printer profile in Chitubox and generate a .goo file, the printer is unable to read it and the file doesn't even show up on the USB drive.» Another owner in late August: «I've tried using flash disk but get „File error: Printing stopped“.»
- Reformat the drive as FAT32 with a 4096-byte allocation unit: that's the format Elegoo requires for firmware, and print files read more reliably from it too.
- Put files in the root of the drive, with no nested folders and no non-Latin characters in filenames.
- If the file doesn't appear in the list, check your slicer version: ChituBox only gained Jupiter 2 support in July 2026, and early hand-made profiles produced unreadable .goo files.
- «File error: Printing stopped» on a large file — check the size first and update to at least 01.00.02.13 with its 3.5 GB ceiling.
- Clear full onboard storage through Settings → App Settings → Clear Files → Local Formatting, or delete files one by one with a long press in Print → Local Files.
Day one, consumables and post-processing
44. Out-of-box defects: a loose lever, stickers, dents
An owner on day one: the sticker on the build plate had been applied crooked, and «the lever that holds the plate has a lot of play in it. I can wiggle it back and forth». The thread settled on a rule of thumb: a little play in an empty lever is normal, but with the plate installed the assembly should sit tight. Cameron Coward at Hackster received a machine with a minor ding at the bottom of the door area — «probably the shipping carrier's fault, but it is still worth noting». There is a separate thread titled simply «Elegoo Jupiter 2 arrived damaged!».
- Unbox with two people: 35.8 kg gross, 28.9 kg net. Tip the box on its side and slide the printer out sideways — there is no unboxing guide in the box at all.
- Remove the shipping films from the build plate, the vat and the door window, and take the shipping sticker off the screen. Leave the panel's own protective film alone — that is the one people mistake for shipping film.
- Check the locking lever: with the plate installed there should be no play.
- Run the self-check and the exposure test on day one, before pouring resin. Nine diagnostic points and the pattern on the panel expose factory defects while the machine can still go back.
- If you find damage, photograph it before installing resin: once the vat is filled, an exchange becomes an email thread.
- The auto-feed module must not be hot-swapped: assemble it and connect the cable and tube first, then power up.
45. Water-washable resin fails twice over on large parts
Fabbaloo printed with the water-washable resin supplied for review and hit repeated layer separation on a large model — 783 g of resin and nearly thirty hours wasted. Cleaning went no better: grey residue stayed in fine detail even after several ten-minute wash cycles, and the wash station manual mentions adding «an appropriate amount of cleaning solution» that wasn't included. After switching to standard grey Elegoo resin, the same models came out as «some of the finest quality prints we've seen» and washed off cleanly in IPA.
- Don't start a large model in water-washable resin without a test print first — support separation is noticeably more common with it.
- Wash with water plus a cleaning agent, not plain water. Elegoo's station doesn't ship with one.
- Brush fine detail immediately after washing and before UV curing: once cured, residue is there for good.
- For parts that matter, use standard or ABS-like resin — that is consistently where reviewers got their best results.
- Officially the Jupiter 2 works with most 405 nm resins including clear water-washable ones, but Elegoo itself recommends running a small test print first.
46. The plate and large prints don't fit a standard wash station
Fabbaloo: «The instructions for the wash mentioned adjustable brackets on the basket for holding the build plate, but there is no way the Jupiter 2's build plate is getting immersed in the wash bucket, it is far too large.» A reviewer with a 300 mm part ran into the same thing — rinsed in two passes, flipping the model, though it did fit under the dome of the curing chamber. Elegoo's official FAQ answer: they have noted the demand for a wash and cure station sized for the Jupiter 2 plate and passed it to product development. The same FAQ confirms there is no built-in drip hanger.
- Plan on hand-washing in a container sized to the part rather than relying on the station.
- Rinse tall models in two passes, flipping them, and always finish with clean solution.
- Wash the plate separately by pouring and wiping rather than immersion.
- Use the supplied drip tray to let resin run off the plate — there is no built-in hanger.
- A thick raft lifts off cleanly with a spatula and leaves no scratches. One reviewer's tip: buy the thinnest-bladed spatula you can find, round off the corners and the cutting edge, and polish them so there are no burrs.
47. Support, spares and documentation: what's missing
In April 2026 owners found that the support contact form had no «Jupiter 2» option at all — only Jupiter and Jupiter SE. Firmware isn't published publicly either. The box ships one release film, and the site had none in stock with a six-week estimated lead time. Elegoo's answer about differences between review units and production machines read: «We can confirm that there are indeed some differences between the engineering prototype and the mass-production unit. However, the specific modifications and optimizations for the mass-production batch are the responsibility of the relevant departments… we cannot disclose detailed internal engineering information.»
There is a genuine strength on the other side of the ledger: Elegoo's knowledge base carries replacement guides for more than twenty Jupiter 2 assemblies — Wi-Fi module, power supply, Fresnel lens, force sensors, heating adapter board, power switch and more — with photographs and part numbers. That makes support tickets far more productive: you name a component instead of saying «it broke».

- Email 3dp@elegoo.com with the firmware version, serial number and a video of the symptom attached up front — that skips the first round of back-and-forth.
- Order consumables (film, spare vat, screen) before you need them: lead times are measured in weeks.
- Keep a local copy of a working firmware version.
- Take the part number from the replacement page in Elegoo's knowledge base — the same page has step-by-step photos.
