Description

The QIDI Shadow 6.0 Pro is an entry-level desktop resin (mSLA) printer that QIDI Technology released in 2020 at around $400. It's the direct successor to the popular Shadow 5.5 S, and the larger 6-inch screen grows the build area by roughly 20%. It's aimed at people trying resin printing for the first time who want detailed miniatures without a long setup.

The build volume is 130x70x150 mm. Exposure comes from a 6" monochrome 2K LCD at 2560x1440 with about 47 micron XY precision, and the minimum layer height is 10 microns. The headline upgrade is a Matrix UV-LED module (405 nm) with higher exposure intensity, so a single layer cures in roughly 5-6 seconds. The CNC-machined aluminum body wears an acrylic cover, and a dual Z axis on linear rails with two sliders keeps Z accuracy down to 1.25 microns. Two fans and an activated carbon filter handle resin odor. You drive it from a touchscreen, slice in ChiTuBox, and transfer files over USB.

Advantages

  • High detail — the 2K screen with 47 micron pixels and 10 micron layers renders fine miniature and chess-piece features cleanly across the whole plate
  • Fast curing — the upgraded Matrix UV module cures a layer in 5-6 seconds, so it prints faster than many early LCD machines
  • Stable mechanics — a dual Z axis on linear rails with two sliders holds Z accuracy to 1.25 microns and reduces banding
  • Easy start — a clear touchscreen and a pre-loaded ChiTuBox profile let you print almost out of the box
  • Odor control — two fans and an activated carbon filter noticeably cut the typical resin smell during printing
  • Generous bundle — scrapers, gloves, a mask, a spare FEP film, and a manual are included, so you can print right after unboxing

Disadvantages

  • Small build area — 130x70x150 mm is tight for large models, which you'll have to split into parts
  • USB only — there's no Wi-Fi or network connection, so files move by flash drive
  • Noisy fans — the filtration system runs fairly loud, and resin odor still calls for a well-ventilated room
  • Discontinued — official sales and support have ended, so a replacement screen or FEP film means going to third-party suppliers

The QIDI Shadow 6.0 Pro suits resin newcomers and tabletop miniature hobbyists who want an affordable printer with good detail and minimal fiddling. It's a sensible pick for figures, busts, chess sets, and small functional parts.

Bottom line: the Shadow 6.0 Pro was a solid budget mSLA printer for its time, with decent mechanics, a capable 2K screen, and fast curing. Today it's mostly a used-market option, and worth it only if you can live with the small build area and the lack of wireless connectivity.
