Description

The Creality HALOT-MAGE is an MSLA resin 3D printer built around a 10.3" monochrome 8K LCD (7680×4320), released in April 2023. The model targets hobbyists, tabletop gamers, and miniaturists who want 29.7 µm XY detail across a generous 228×128×230 mm build volume. Its launch MSRP of $399 made HALOT-MAGE one of the most affordable 8K printers in its class at release. The model is now discontinued and superseded by HALOT-MAGE S (14K).

The printer is built around a 10.3-inch 8K monochrome LCD with an integral 405 nm light source rated at 5000 µW/cm². Layer exposure time is 1–5 s and layer height ranges from 0.05 to 0.15 mm. The Z axis rides on dual rigid linear rails driven by a high-torque stepper. The MageArch chassis uses an orange UV-blocking flip lid that blocks 99.89% of ambient UV and opens with one hand. An activated-carbon filter (about 3-month service life), a 4.3" touchscreen, and USB-only file transfer round out the feature set (Wi-Fi and Ethernet are Pro-only). Slicer support: HALOT BOX, ChituBox, and Lychee Slicer.

Advantages

  • 8K resolution (7680×4320) and 29.7 µm XY — ultra-fine miniature and organic detail with minimal post-processing
  • Generous 228×128×230 mm build volume in a compact 333×270×608 mm chassis — fits on a desk
  • Dual rigid Z-axis linear rails plus high-torque stepper — stable large prints with barely visible layer lines
  • Built-in activated-carbon filter with replaceable cartridge (~3 months) — noticeably cuts resin odor indoors
  • MageArch lid with 99.89% UV blocking — opens one-handed and barely increases printer height when open
  • Works with HALOT BOX, ChituBox, and Lychee Slicer — use your preferred slicer, no vendor lock-in

Disadvantages

  • Discontinued — no longer stocked in the official Creality store, replaced by HALOT-MAGE S (14K)
  • USB-only transfer — no Wi-Fi or Ethernet (those are Pro-only)
  • Flip lid opens upward — the printer cannot be placed flush against a shelf or wall
  • Checkerboard build plate has aggressive adhesion — prints can be tough to pop off, especially at thin layers

HALOT-MAGE suits hobbyists, tabletop gamers, and miniature painters who want 8K detail in a compact chassis without paying for Pro-only features (high-speed curing, smart resin pump, Wi-Fi). Easy calibration and a straightforward touchscreen make it approachable for resin beginners, as long as USB-based file transfer is acceptable.

It is the proven 8K predecessor of the HALOT-MAGE S: identical chassis geometry and build volume, but a lower-resolution LCD. If you find leftover stock at a discount, it is still a capable printer for detailed models and miniatures. For current support and a fresher panel, the HALOT-MAGE S is the better pick.
