The Elegoo Jupiter 2 is a large-format MSLA resin printer with a 302.4 × 161.98 × 300 mm build area, a 14-inch 16K panel at 15120 × 6230 pixels, a vat heater fixed at 30 °C and pump-fed resin from a 2 kg canister. It shipped on 15 April 2026 and costs $949.

Let's get the awkward part out of the way first, because no other round-up will tell you. As of 28 August 2026 there are zero printable mods for the Jupiter 2 — not on Printables, not on MakerWorld, not on Thingiverse, not on Cults3D. No third-party quick-release vat exists in its size, no flex plate, no ACF film. This community is not decorating its printers yet; it is still getting them to print reliably. So this guide covers what actually works: consumables, settings, software and the handful of hardware fixes owners do by hand. For the failures themselves we have a separate teardown: 47 known Jupiter 2 issues.

Before the first print

1. Where it lives: 29 kg and a meter of bench for the doors

This is the one decision you can't redo later. Elegoo's FAQ states the minimum clearance with the doors fully open: 1150 × 670 × 660 mm. The printer itself is 465 × 508 × 648 mm and weighs 28.9 kg net, 35.8 kg boxed. Tom's Hardware measured 1054 mm across with the doors open; FauxHammer says you really need closer to 111 cm, because the door corners swing through an arc.

  • Lift it with two people. Fabbaloo tipped the box on its side and slid the printer out — lifting it vertically wasn't happening
  • Don't park it flush against another printer; an opening door will shove that printer aside
  • The upside of side doors: nothing opens upward, so the machine fits on a shelf with modest headroom
  • The power switch and inlet are on the back — leave access there, don't push the machine against a wall

Difficulty: easy. Cost: nothing. The iXBT reviewer put the weight plainly: the box is around 40 kg, hauling it alone is rough, and there's even a sticker telling you not to try. Clearance figures come from Elegoo's official FAQ.

2. A silicone mat and a tray under the machine, before the first pour

There is a drip tray in the box, but it only covers the area around the vat. The most expensive Jupiter 2 failure looks different: on some units the feed pump throws a hose and a 2 kg canister ends up on the desk and the floor. One owner described it under VogMan's review — he came back a couple of hours later and the entire pump bottle had emptied across his table and floor because the hose had come loose. He fitted proper clamps to all the hoses and it happened a second time.

  • A large silicone mat under the whole chassis, not just under the vat
  • It also gives you somewhere to strip the vat and film frame without wrecking the bench
  • Elegoo's own mats are 400 × 300 mm and ship in pairs; generic 410 × 310 mm sheets cost about $8 each
  • Silicone wipes clean with IPA, which is more than you can say for a worktop

3. Manual leveling by the load cells: do it once, properly

The Jupiter 2's plate sits on four corner load cells rather than a single one like the smaller machines, so the printer sees real pressure at each corner instead of an average. The path is Settings — Accessibility — Manual leveling, and the only tool you need is a 3.0 mm hex key. Before you start, Elegoo wants the resin feed nozzle lifted and bagged with a cable tie so nothing drips inside, and the vat off its two knob screws.

  1. First tighten all four screws above the mechanical sensor fully clockwise — that's the starting point, not the finish
  2. Never touch the highest value. Work on the corner diagonally opposite it first
  3. Counterclockwise raises the reading, clockwise lowers it
  4. The documented target is a max-to-min spread under 10 N; the on-screen text adds that the diagonal difference must also stay within 10 N
  5. Don't chase one corner to zero in a single pass — a big correction drags the related corner and the whole diagonal with it
  6. After the first pass the plate cycles up and down to settle the rails, and the screws need a second touch-up

Here's the trick that isn't in the manual: if one screw arrived bottomed out from the factory, back all four off two full turns before you begin. The owner whose front-right screw was cranked down punched a hole through a brand-new film with the plate on his second print, and only got the plate level after backing all four off. Owners aim tighter than the spec, too — one holds a 0.6 N spread, another keeps all four within 1 N against an official ten.

Difficulty: medium, 30–40 minutes the first time. Cost: nothing. The iXBT reviewer finished at 7.61 / 6.20 / 8.67 / 7.36 N, and a nominal 2 mm calibration plate near the edge measured 1.889 mm. The illustrated procedure is in Elegoo's wiki.

4. Don't overtighten the plate lever, or you dish the plate

The symptom is misleading: parts near the edges print, anything in the middle tears off. The first instinct is to chase exposure. The community traced one such case to an overtightened plate lever — the plate takes on a dished shape and its middle pulls away from the film. The advice was literal: if you added 3 mm of lift height and nothing changed, this is your next suspect.

  • The physics back it up — peel force peaks in the middle of the build area; there's more on that in section 27
  • The test is trivial: print the same small model in the middle and at all four corners
  • The lever is meant to click home, not to be cranked
  • If the lever has obvious play out of the box, that's a support ticket, not something to compensate with torque

Difficulty: medium — the work is trivial, the diagnosis isn't. Cost: nothing. Related symptoms are covered in our general guide to resin printing failures.

5. Exposure calibration: the stock 2.5 seconds is almost always wrong

The resin calibration routine the manual references isn't in the menu, and there is no ready-made profile for this machine: Elegoo's FAQ suggests taking Jupiter SE settings as a starting point. Stock normal-layer exposure is 2.5 seconds. The iXBT reviewer found that under-cured his Elegoo ABS-Like and moved to 2.8 seconds, which he describes as a large improvement.

One more thing worth trying before any calibration: delete the printer in SatelLite and add it again. For one owner the software pulled updated profiles, which shaved nearly a second off every layer and fixed his over-exposure. Difficulty: medium, one evening. Vat, film and build plate

6. Keep spare pre-framed films: a one-minute swap instead of an evening with a hex key

Elegoo only sells film pre-mounted in a frame: three for $74.99. The spec sheet says 381 × 255 mm, 0.15 mm thick, 92% UV transmittance, up to 60,000 release cycles, and a quick-lock that needs no tools or screws. That rating looks honest: one owner reports roughly 50,000 releases on his second film and 40,000 on the first.

  1. Lift the resin feed nozzle and bag it with a cable tie
  2. Undo the two knob screws and lift the vat out
  3. Remove both vat handles
  4. Release the front and side snaps, then flip the vat
  5. Swap the whole film assembly and reassemble in reverse

A comment under the iXBT review from 25 August 2026 sums up the mood: the engineers finally dropped the screws from the vat, because changing film on the older machines was pure pain. The reviewer added that he expected leaks from the new design but everything has stayed dry so far. The one real complaint is price: roughly $25 per swap, with no cheaper option yet. And a detail Fabbaloo flagged during unboxing — there is no spare film in the box.

Difficulty: easy, under a minute if you're not rushing. Cost: $74.99 for three. Compatibility: Jupiter 2 only — Jupiter and Jupiter SE frames don't fit. Step-by-step guide in Elegoo's wiki.

7. Re-skinning the frame yourself: 28 screws and a foam pad as the tensioner

Elegoo publishes two different procedures and people constantly conflate them: swapping a ready-made assembly is one thing, re-skinning the frame is another entirely. The second needs 3.0 mm and 2.0 mm hex keys, a utility knife and an 80 × 80 × 5 mm piece of foam. Four positioning screws come out of the vat, the assembly flips over, and then you're into 28 pressing-plate screws.

  • The tensioner is that foam pad: it goes in the center of the lower plate, film on top, upper plate on top of that
  • Tightening order matters — the four edge screws first, then the other 24, and only then pull the foam out
  • Finish by trimming the film along the plate edge with a knife; the wiki specifically warns about the blade
  • Third-party 390 × 263 × 0.15 mm sheets sold "for Elegoo Jupiter" are big enough to cover the 381 × 255 mm you need, but nobody has confirmed they fit the Jupiter 2 frame
  • 300 mm wide rolls are simply too narrow

Elegoo explains the gap in its FAQ: for the sake of replacement convenience and consistent quality it has not yet released a standalone film for the J2, and it is currently validating a non-metal frame design at a more competitive price. So this route is not officially supported yet.

Difficulty: hard, an hour or two of careful work. Cost: roughly $19 for five third-party sheets against $74.99 for three factory frames. Only worth it if you've re-skinned frames on older machines before — a bad tension job costs you more than the film. Procedure in Elegoo's wiki.

8. A second vat for a second resin

Changing resin on a pump-fed machine isn't drain-and-refill, it's flushing the whole line. A second vat removes half the job, leaving only the hose and pump to purge. It's the same logic as the second canister — Elegoo ships a spare empty 2 liter container and a tube with a fitting precisely so you can run two materials. The iXBT review puts it simply: you can work with two different resins without scrubbing the containers every time.

  • It only goes in one way round: the MAX-marked side must face the Z axis, or the heater won't engage and the LCD can be damaged — that's printed on a label inside the chassis
  • Keep resin below the MAX line and don't touch the metal parts while the vat is hot
  • Elegoo sells exactly four Jupiter 2 spares in total: LCD, plate, vat and film

Difficulty: easy. Cost: $93.99. Compatibility: Jupiter 2 only. Official listing: Metal Resin Tank for Jupiter 2.

9. A second build plate: pull one, drop the other in

A full-height part takes around 30 hours, and the machine sits idle for all of the washing and curing that follows. The trick the community calls a pallet swap is simple: keep two plates and rotate them. An owner running three resin machines that way rates the setup effort at an hour, tops.

  • The plate releases with a dual-grip quick-release, no tools involved
  • While part one washes and cures, plate two is already printing
  • A spare also insures you against factory defects — some owners report concave plates
  • Nobody has posted a Jupiter 2 write-up of this specifically; it's carried over from other large Elegoo machines, and nothing about the Jupiter 2 blocks it

10. Clean the vat with a 15-second exposure instead of scraping

After a failed print the vat floor is littered with cured chunks, and fishing them out with a scraper without nicking the film is close to impossible. The Tools menu has a dedicated vat-clean function: the printer exposes the whole area, forms one thin continuous sheet, and that sheet lifts out with the debris in it.

  • The cycle Jupiter 2 owners use: 15 seconds of exposure, drain via recycling, peel the sheet
  • You don't need to wash the vat or the screen afterwards — just remove the cured sheet
  • The same menu holds manual plate control, the LCD exposure test and a forced self-check
  • Don't get carried away: long full-area exposures spend LCD life

11. A two-dollar scraper, reworked

The stock scraper is awkward against a 302 × 162 mm plate, and a careless blade leaves burrs in the surface. The iXBT reviewer's recipe is exact: buy the thinnest-bladed scraper in the hardware shop, round the corners and the cutting edge, and ideally polish them so there are no burrs. His verdict — even a thick raft lifts easily and leaves no scratches on the plate.

  • Keep the two stock scrapers for the vat and use the reworked one only on the plate
  • The other tool you actually need is a soft rubber spatula for the resin the drain leaves behind
  • Rounding the corners is the important part — that's what gouges the laser etching
  • Printing directly on the plate is a bad idea anyway, whatever you lift it with

Difficulty: easy, fifteen minutes with a file. Cost: $2–4 for a hardware-store scraper.

Auto-feeding: fix it, disable it, or flush it

12. Hose clamps on the pump — and Elegoo's own fix once it has leaked

Owners suggest fitting aftermarket clamps to the hose joints straight away — "buy aftermarket hose clamps to fix the pump issues" is the exact phrasing. Another tightens the feed tubes with extra security at unboxing, before any resin goes in. The irony is that Elegoo's own production fix was two cheap zip ties, something an r/resinprinting thread pointed out with some feeling.

  1. Power off and unplug
  2. Lift the side hatch on the auto-feed module
  3. Remove the three pump cover screws with a Phillips driver
  4. Check the right-hand tube connector — Elegoo's guide names that one — and reseat it firmly

The honest caveat: clamps lower the odds, they don't eliminate them. The owner who fitted proper clamps to every hose still lost a full bottle the second time and gave up on the pump entirely. Difficulty: easy, about ten minutes. Cost: about $2 for a set of clamps. Official procedure in Elegoo's wiki.

13. Ditching auto-feed: the most popular mod is subtraction

Auto-feeding and recycling toggle under Settings — Accessibility. Owners who run the machine daily simply never fit the module: "I don't use the auto fill" is a common line, and a print shop with four machines leaves the pump disconnected because it sits in a silly place round the back. Feeding kicks in when the vat drops below 250 ml.

  • Side effect: even with feeding off, the printer still wants confirmation at the panel before every job. Elegoo passed that complaint to R&D back in April 2026
  • The canister doesn't have to hang off the back — the holder mounts on the side too. The catch: an opening door can clip the bottle, and there's no extension cable for the feed module on sale
  • The pump isn't rated for every material: Elegoo only tested auto-feeding with its own resins
  • Its FAQ answers four different feed failures with the same line — the system may not support this resin, try a different one

Difficulty: easy. Cost: nothing. What you give up: automatic top-ups on long prints and easy draining back into the canister — in exchange for predictability. The feeding settings are documented in a separate wiki page.

14. Flushing the line on a color change: 300–400 ml and a few dry cycles

Run white after black and it comes out gray, because some of the old resin is still in the hose and the pump. Elegoo documents two methods and both are built around 300–400 ml.

15. Top the vat up by hand so the resin has time to warm

The stock cycle works like this: the vat heater runs before the print, auto-feeding runs during it. Which means anything added mid-job never gets warm. One of the most experienced Jupiter 2 owners states the workaround plainly: top the vat up manually before you start, otherwise the printer heats what's there, begins printing and then adds cold material. He calls it a firmware flaw rather than a design one.

  • On the iXBT machine an empty vat filled to nearly the max line in five minutes, then preheating started with the plate stirring it
  • By print start the resin was 38 °C at the wall and 33 °C at the plate, against a 30 °C setpoint
  • The vat is shallow: roughly one bottle takes you to the max line, which is little for a large-format machine
  • In practice: fill by hand, switch preheating on, wait, then send the job

Difficulty: medium — it's a habit, not an operation. Cost: nothing.

Temperature and air

16. A brewing heat belt instead of the fixed 30 degrees

The Jupiter 2's vat heater is locked at 30 °C — you don't get to set it. In a cold workshop that isn't enough, and one owner whose prints failed constantly wrapped the vat in a fermentation heating belt: an hour of preheating with the plate lowered brings the vat to roughly 34 °C. After working through every other theory his conclusion was blunt — temperature was what fixed it, everything else was inconclusive.

  • The floor below which nothing is consistent is around 20 °C ambient
  • A second vote for the same trick comes from VogMan's comments: a belt with a temperature knob beats the fixed built-in heater
  • The complaint about the stock heater is that it warms unevenly, mostly where the thermostat sits
  • Before you build anything, check the boring thing first: the vat must sit with its MAX-marked side toward the Z axis or the stock heater simply won't run

Difficulty: medium. Cost: around $10 for a fermentation belt. Compatibility: any vat, the belt just wraps around the outside.

17. Ducting the 75 mm rear port

There is no filter inside the printer and the chassis is not sealed. FauxHammer says it outright: there are openings in the rear chassis where vapours escape, which cancels out how sealed the front looks. Elegoo confirms in its FAQ that the rear exhaust port is 75 mm and meant for an external extraction system — that is the only way to get fumes out of the room rather than stir them around it.

18. The Mars Mate purifier: it kills the smell, it doesn't replace ducting

Elegoo confirms Mars Mate compatibility with the Jupiter 2 in its FAQ, even though the purifier's own product page hasn't been updated to list it. One power detail matters: in Elegoo's comparison table the Jupiter 2 air-purifier row reads "non-USB connection, compatible with Elegoo Marsmate". The Jupiter SE had USB — here the purifier needs its own power supply.

  • 210 × 247 × 410 mm, 7 kg, 35 dB, 6 W, running on 12 V at 0.6 A
  • Up to 95% of volatile compounds, with a filter life of about two months
  • The indicator lights at 1440 filter hours or 1.4 ppm
  • The carbon cartridge is a consumable and is replaced separately
  • The cheap half-measure for an enclosed space is Elegoo's mini purifiers, battery or USB powered, sitting inside the chamber

The limitation is worth stating plainly: a purifier removes the smell inside an enclosure but vents nothing outdoors. Pair it with ducting, don't substitute it. For anyone working close to the machine, Tom's Hardware recommends nitrile gloves at least 3 mil thick, closed-top eyewear and a carbon-filtered respirator. Difficulty: easy. Cost: the purifier is $139 at Elegoo and from $85.28 on marketplaces; a replacement carbon filter is $89.99 and from $63.39 respectively.

19. A tent around the whole rig, and taping the hose holes

Asked whether the chassis is sealed, an experienced owner answers directly: not particularly, and if that matters he'd put it in a tent. Another in the same thread adds the practical bit — tape over the openings the canister hoses pass through, and still run an extraction fan.

  • The tent is less about smell than about a stable temperature around the machine
  • Second benefit: it keeps stray light off the resin sitting in the vat
  • A warning from an owner who runs a resin machine inside a grow tent: the Jupiter 2's sideways doors force you to rebuild the whole bench layout
  • The Jupiter 2's door glass is clear rather than tinted like a classic hood; the iXBT reviewer puts it more gently — slightly less shading than a Saturn cover

Difficulty: medium. Cost: from around $42 for a tent. Compatibility: account for the doors — you need at least 1150 mm of width inside the tent.

Software: slicers, files, firmware

On 10 July 2026 a post appeared in r/ElegooJupiter: "Great news if you use Chitubox — v1.3.0 now supports the ELEGOO Jupiter 2." Two more owners confirmed it independently in August, with one caveat: you can save to disk, you can't send over the network. ChiTuBox's own release notes don't mention the Jupiter 2, so this is a community confirmation rather than a vendor one.

On 18 August the official Lychee account posted that the giant of the family had joined Lychee Slicer and that Beta 8.0.0.9 can slice for the Jupiter 2, distributed through the Public beta channel on their Discord. And the changelog for open-source DragonFruit v0.1.9, dated 6 July, says it word for word: support for the new GOO v5 format, exclusive to Satellite and Jupiter 2 printers.

  • The DragonFruit Jupiter 2 profile is a real preset, not a promise: 302.4 × 161.98 × 300, a 20 × 26 µm pixel, .goo v5.1 output, X mirroring
  • The same preset spells out the limits: no network printing, no camera support, and a 3-bit anti-aliasing depth the author flags as suboptimal for grayscale
  • DragonFruit is pre-1.0 and the developers ask you not to leave a first print unattended
  • On Linux there's no choice: Elegoo no longer ships SatelLite for it, so Lychee and DragonFruit are the only routes
  • The limitation all three share: only SatelLite can push a job to the printer over the network

Difficulty: easy. Cost: free for DragonFruit, a licence for ChiTuBox Pro and Lychee. The DragonFruit changelog is on GitHub, the slicer itself is on the project site.

21. The hybrid route: supports elsewhere, slicing and sending in SatelLite

SatelLite's auto-supports swing between a picket fence and a handful of lonely sticks, but it's the only slicer that can send a job over the network. Hence the workflow at least four owners described independently between April and August 2026, including a beta tester who had the machine before launch.

  1. Orient, hollow and support the model in ChiTuBox or Lychee
  2. Export the result as STL
  3. Import into SatelLite one file at a time — otherwise you can't move models around afterwards
  4. Slice and send over the network from SatelLite

If you don't need the network, you don't need the hybrid either: ChiTuBox and DragonFruit write .goo the printer reads from a stick. The main argument against the stock slicer is speed — an owner with a 32-core CPU and 128 GB of RAM waited half an hour for a slice ChiTuBox handled in three minutes. Of SatelLite's own support profiles, the Evo one for parts above 100 mm is the one people report working.

Difficulty: easy. Cost: nothing. Compatibility: works with any slicer that exports STL. Where to find models in the first place is covered in our round-up of catalogs and aggregators.

22. UVtools 6.2.0: before 6 August it wouldn't even open a Jupiter 2 file

For months there was no way to inspect a sliced file on this machine for blank layers, islands or suction-cup cavities: nothing could open .goo v5.1. That story closed on 6 August 2026, and it reads cleanly by date.

  1. 4 May 2026 — a Jupiter 2 owner files "Elegoo Jupiter 2 not compatible": UVtools 6.0.3 won't open .goo from SatelLite
  2. 27 June, v6.1.0 — the silent failure becomes an honest error: file version 51 is not known by the decoder
  3. 3 July — a contributor submits a dedicated GOO V5 class: index tables, layer images split into panels, a new RLE codec and per-resin metadata
  4. 6 August, v6.2.0 — "Add Goo V5.0, V5.1 and V5.2 support, fixes #1114"

Which means the "you can't print safely on this machine because UVtools doesn't work" complaints were true right up until 6 August 2026. If you're still seeing the unknown-version error today, you're on an old build.

  • Nine calibration generators, including the exposure finder and elephant-foot compensation
  • Island and suction-cup repair, plus per-layer editing of exposure and rest times
  • Resin stirring via dry plate movements — on a vat this size that's not a gimmick
  • Raise-on-finish, so the plate lifts at the end of a job and the resin drains back into the vat
  • A ready-made PrusaSlicer "Elegoo Jupiter 2" profile ships with it: 2.5 s rest before cure (3 s on bottom layers), 7 mm lift height, lift speed 100 against 80 on bottom layers, retract speed 150, PWM maxed, and 0.2 mm elephant-foot compensation

There's a bridge in the other direction too: SatelLite has a documented UVtools plug-in that lets it save formats other than .goo. The Jupiter 2 itself doesn't need that, but a workshop with several machines will. Difficulty: hard if you go into per-layer edits, easy if you just check the file. Cost: nothing. A real-world catch: one owner ran a large model through UVtools and found a cavity in the neck that hadn't been there before. The original issue, UVtools releases.

23. Keeping the file under the ceiling: support anti-aliasing and 3MF instead of STL

A big model on a 16K panel turns into a multi-gigabyte file, and the printer hangs or refuses on those. The original ceiling was 2 GB; firmware 01.00.02.13, released 1 June 2026, raised it to 3.5 GB. Whether that's actually fixed is still contested: on 28 August 2026 an owner running the latest firmware, SatelLite and ChiTuBox says the limit is still there on his unit, with support promising a fix in a future OTA.

  1. Turn anti-aliasing off for supports specifically. One owner measured it: the same dense support tree came to 222 MB with support AA off against 716 MB with it on
  2. Keep image blur off maximum — 4 rather than 8
  3. Feed the slicer 3MF instead of STL: "I can load a plate with various models and keep it between 150–300 MB"
  4. Ask whether you need anti-aliasing at all — 16K resolves fine detail without it

The mechanism is straightforward: maximum anti-aliasing paints a grayscale skin several pixels deep along every contour, and supports are thousands of tiny contours. A separate trap: the printer only reads FAT32 sticks, which have their own 4 GB per-file ceiling. And a practical habit from the field — don't save the sliced file straight to the stick. One owner traced blank layers and missing sections to exactly that; save to disk, then copy.

If the on-board file list gets unwieldy, clear it in the same place: Print — Local Files, long-press a file, Delete; or Settings — App Settings — Clear Files — Local Formatting. Difficulty: medium. Cost: nothing.

24. Firmware: how to update, and how to roll back from a boot loop

The current build as of 28 August 2026 is V01.00.02.14, dated 15 June, and the archive is around 121 MB. Elegoo publishes no changelog for the Jupiter 2: the download page carries update logs for the Jupiter and Jupiter SE, but nothing for the J2.

  • USB update: FAT32, 4096-byte cluster size, file in the root, then Settings — Version upgrade — Local upgrade
  • Over the air: Settings — Wi-Fi — Version upgrade — Check for updates
  • Elegoo itself makes firmware the first step when auto-leveling errors out, and recommends doing it over the air
  • Downloads can be slow or unreliable depending on where you are — plan for the 121 MB rather than assuming it lands instantly

What happened with 01.00.02.13: some machines went into a reboot loop, and the update couldn't be declined — once detected there was no skipping it, and once installed the loop started again. The escape sequence support walked owners through: wait for it to eventually boot (reports range from 45 minutes to several hours), immediately turn Wi-Fi off, and flash the older firmware from a stick via Local Upgrade.

The flip side: for some owners an update fixed everything at once — as one put it, the firmware update sorted the machine out: the pump worked, the camera worked, Wi-Fi worked and prints started sticking to the plate. Difficulty: hard if you land in the loop. Cost: nothing. The update procedure is in the wiki, the current build is in Elegoo's download center.

25. The Matrix app and network printing: what works and where it chokes

Pairing the Jupiter 2 with the Elegoo Matrix app started working with firmware 01.00.02.13 on 1 June 2026 — that's when the QR code appeared under device info. The minimum firmware for the app is 01.00.02.04, and the app itself needs to be 1.1.2 or newer.

  • From the app you get Z moves, toggles for the light, auto-feeding and vat heating, exposure and layer settings, and starting prints from local files
  • The common pairing failure has a trivial fix: fill in your username in the app — one owner's was blank and support named that as the cause
  • Network printing from SatelLite: Device — Add Device, slice, Network Transmission, Send Files, Print
  • A SatelLite project holds up to 16 build plates, slices and saves them one at a time, and stores the whole project in its own format
  • If SatelLite suddenly gets slower than usual, owners report that reinstalling it helps

The bottleneck is the link itself. An owner with Saturn 4 Ultra 16K machines alongside timed it: a 5000-layer model took over 30 minutes to reach the Jupiter 2 against under 5 minutes to the Saturn on the same router. Wi-Fi also drops on some units and won't reconnect by itself. Difficulty: easy. Cost: nothing. For remote access to printers generally, see our guide to remote control.

Settings for the large format

26. Cap the height at 260–270 mm: the 300 mm is real, getting the part out isn't

Elegoo admits it right on the product page: for full-size prints you'll need to remove the resin tank to take the model out. Support tells owners a number in writing — cap models at 270 mm. FauxHammer, after testing, suggests staying in the 265–278 mm region.

The iXBT reviewer printed a tower at exactly 300 mm and described the ending: the top of the model sits a few millimeters clear of the resin surface, there are a couple of centimeters to the vat rim, and the plate simply will not slide out with the part on it. The way out is undoing the clamp screws and sliding the plate together with the vat. The alternative for people who insist on printing to the ceiling: two people lift the plate and vat together, one holding the vat while the other pulls the plate.

  • Cap the Z ceiling in the slicer once and forget about it
  • That 300 mm tower took about 30 hours at stock settings
  • Losing 30–40 mm of height is cheaper than dismantling the vat assembly over a fresh print
  • If a part is already stuck, take the vat out first — don't yank the plate

Difficulty: easy. Cost: nothing. Compatibility: it's a slicer setting, so any of them will do.

27. Slow the plate down and lift it higher: the cure for failures in the middle

Peel force peaks at the center of the build area, and here that area is 302 × 162 mm. Confirmed result: an owner whose center failed every time slowed the retract right down and reported back — the prints take way longer but they work. Separately from that, owners also slow the lift itself.

  • Lift speed: 60 first, then 40 mm/min — real numbers from a Jupiter 2 owner
  • Lift height goes from the stock 7 mm to 9–10 mm, which compensates for slack film tension
  • If 3 mm of extra lift height changed nothing, the culprit is more likely the overtightened plate lever than any setting
  • The price is time: on a 30-hour print, slowing the lift adds hours

Difficulty: medium. Cost: nothing. Worth touching once you actually see failures, not preemptively.

28. Bottom layers and rest times: where adhesion ends and killing the LCD begins

The raft peels off the plate and the first instinct is to push bottom exposure to half a minute and beyond. Owners' working values really are in that range: four bottom layers at 55 seconds for one, two bottom layers at 0.05 mm and 60 seconds for another because three layers delaminated.

The healthier path is rest time, not exposure. Jupiter 2 owners drop light-off delay in favour of rest before cure and rest after retract. The reason: viscous resin needs time to flow back into the gap between plate and film. Too little time, or resin that's too cold, and the layer comes out thicker and sticks worse. Elegoo's own support gave the same advice in two separate tickets — longer wait before print and more lift distance.

  1. Rest before cure first — the stock reference points are 2.5 s, and 3 s on bottom layers
  2. Then lift height
  3. Then lift and retract speed
  4. And only last, bottom-layer exposure

Difficulty: medium. Cost: nothing — but the wrong order costs you a $229.99 panel.

29. Always print on a raft, and fix its bevel

Elegoo support answers complaints about squashed parts in one line: printing with a raft is recommended. Owner experience backs it up — every print seated directly on the plate failed, and only the ones on supports, not touching the plate, came out. The iXBT reviewer states it as a general rule.

  • The reason here is specific: the plate rides on springs, so the first layers inevitably compress
  • The reviewer's 2 mm calibration plates came out under size even though corner spread was minimal
  • A useful tweak: take the raft bevel from the default 60 degrees to 85, which leaves a thin edge to get a scraper under
  • The opposite trick if your raft welds itself down: lift the part 5 mm on supports rather than adding exposure

Difficulty: easy. Cost: nothing beyond the resin the raft eats.

30. Washing and curing big parts: what fits and what doesn't

Elegoo sells the Jupiter 2 bundled with Mercury stations, and not one of them is sized for its build plate. The official FAQ answer: they have noted demand for a wash and cure station designed for the Jupiter 2 plate and passed it to the product team — which is a polite way of saying it doesn't exist yet.

  • Fabbaloo verified it by hand — the Jupiter 2 plate won't submerge, a 295 mm tower had to be washed end-for-end, and yet it fit the cure station with the lid on
  • The iXBT reviewer got the same result: it went into the Mercury Plus V3.0 cure chamber with barely any headroom
  • Even a 15-liter ultrasonic tank is only 150–200 mm deep, so you'll still be flipping the part
  • No cleaning fluid comes with the station, even though the manual asks you to add some
  • Elegoo's own rules: don't machine-wash water-washable resin, use running water; and don't cure for more than 40 minutes at a stretch

Difficulty: medium — this is a bench-layout problem, not an installation. Cost: the Mercury Plus V3.0 is $199.99 at Elegoo and from $100.84 on marketplaces; Elegoo's bundles run $1045 with the Plus V3.0 and $1073 with the XS against $949 for the printer alone. Maintenance as an upgrade

31. Cleaning and greasing the Z axis — prevention that's cheaper than a motor

The axis knocks, jerks or stalls — and the cause is almost always resin that has run down and cured. Elegoo lists them in a dedicated guide: resin on the rail, lead screw, anti-backlash nut and motor base; dried or contaminated grease; a faulty anti-backlash nut.

  1. Clean the rail, screw and nut of any runs
  2. Replace the grease completely rather than adding on top of the old
  3. Remove the anti-backlash nut and check the travel
  4. Refit the motor without skewing it

Why this is prevention rather than repair: on a pump-fed machine resin reaches the axis not only in a disaster but every time something drips past the nozzle. There will be no ballscrew upgrade kit either — Elegoo's FAQ says plainly that there are no plans to offer one for the Jupiter 2. Looking after the stock screw is the only route available.

Difficulty: medium, 2.5 mm and 2.0 mm hex keys needed. Cost: $3–6 for a tube of suitable grease. The schedule for everything else is in our general maintenance guide; the Z axis procedure is in Elegoo's wiki.

32. The vat magnet: when the printer can't see the vat and you'd rather not swap the machine

The Hall sensor lives in the auto-feed assembly and its magnet lives in the vat. If the magnet is missing or has lost strength, the printer decides there's no vat and the self-check fails. Diagnosis from the wiki takes seconds: hold a magnet against the upper center of the auto-feed assembly — anywhere else and the sensor won't see it.

  1. Bag and cable-tie the resin outlet
  2. Remove the film assembly
  3. Undo the three vat baffle screws with a 2.5 mm hex key
  4. Fit the new magnet and reassemble

The owner whose machine arrived without the magnet chose this over an exchange, which would have taken three weeks. He also measured the seat: he bought 8 × 4 × 2 mm, measured 9 × 4 × 3 mm edge to edge and left clearance for the fit. Elegoo doesn't publish the factory size, so treat that as a starting point rather than a spec.

A related error gets confused with this one and needs no disassembly at all: if the self-check complains about the mechanical sensor, first check that the feed nozzle is folded all the way down toward the vat. It cleared the error for one owner and not for another. Difficulty: medium, about half an hour. Cost: a few dollars for a neodymium magnet.

33. The LCD is a consumable: 2000 hours, $230 and three months of warranty

The rated life is roughly 2,000 hours, and Elegoo ties it directly to exposure: to maximize screen life, avoid unnecessarily long exposure times. The replacement costs $229.99. Warranty on the panel is three months, and it excludes resin leakage, damage to the scratch-resistant film, physical damage and impacts.

  • The good news is that replacement is now realistic. The module has a leak seal, and the job comes down to removing tape, screws and a ribbon cable
  • Elegoo's wiki carries step-by-step guides with part numbers for nearly every assembly: touch screen, constant current board, cooling fan, motherboard, lead screw motor, load cells, Z limit switch, Wi-Fi module, power supply, Fresnel lens
  • The panel arrives with a protective film already applied; there is no replacement film sold for 14 inches — third-party ones are cut for 12.8 and 13.6 inch panels
  • Don't peel the factory film off thinking it's shipping protection — one owner did exactly that
  • What actually extends panel life: don't inflate bottom exposure, clean the vat by exposure rather than scraping, change film before it tears, and keep a tray under the machine

Difficulty: hard, but achievable by the book. Cost: $229.99. Compatibility: Jupiter 2 only — the Jupiter SE panel is smaller and cheaper, and it won't fit. Replacement procedure in Elegoo's wiki.

Where to start

Do all of it at once and you'll drown. This order saves the most money and frustration.

  1. Space and a tray. 29 kg and 1150 mm of door swing get decided once, before unboxing. A silicone mat under the chassis is the cheapest insurance against the most expensive failure
  2. Manual leveling. Until the plate sits inside a 10 N spread, tuning anything else is pointless
  3. Your own exposure. The stock 2.5 seconds is almost always wrong, and no later advice works without your own number
  4. A 260–270 mm Z cap. One slicer setting that saves you dismantling the vat over a fresh print
  5. Ducting the 75 mm port. This one is about your health: no filter inside, no sealed chassis
  6. A spare framed film. The difference between an hour of downtime and a week waiting on a parcel
  7. A third-party slicer. Removes the single biggest daily irritation — half-hour slices
  8. UVtools 6.2.0. Check the file before printing, not after thirty hours
  9. Wash and cure. Buying a station only makes sense once you know what will actually fit in it

After that it depends on you: a second vat and second plate if you run two materials or work in batches; a heat belt if the workshop is cold; ditching auto-feed if it annoys you more than it helps.
