Anycubic Kobra Neo

The Anycubic Kobra Neo is a budget 2022 FDM printer: a 220×220×250 mm build volume, a direct drive extruder, 25-point LeviQ auto bed leveling, a 100 mm/s top speed and a $239 launch price. The bed moves along Y, the frame is open, and there's no Wi-Fi or touchscreen — you drive it with a knob and a 2.4-inch display. It's discontinued now, but plenty of them are still in use.

Owners usually turn up with four topics. First, Anycubic's own profile ships with 6 mm of retraction, which is far too much for a direct drive and leads to clogs. Second, LeviQ auto leveling measures bed deviation but doesn't level anything, and the stock bed spacers come at different heights. Third, wiring that breaks inside its insulation: the probe cable, the extruder motor cable and the bed wires. Fourth, the TriGorilla board's quirks: the part cooling fan only does 0% and 100%, and retraction speed is capped at 25 mm/s.
